LittleBigPlanet is Coming to Sony's PlayStation Portable Console

500°
269w ago - As first announced earlier today, Media Molecule confirmed the long speculated rumors that the adorable SackBoy will be making his way onto the PlayStation Portable sometime this Fall.

Over the last several months and shortly before release of the PlayStation 3 version, there was an enormous amount of belief that these rumors were true, and finally they've come to fruition.

Sony declared that LittleBigPlanet will hit the PSP while offering new levels and the ability to play, create, and share with users much like its PS3 counterpart. It wasn't disclosed if cross-platform functionality would be included, but who are we kidding, it would be a no brainer.

If the PlayStation 3's DLC wasn't draining your wallets enough as is, we're sure the company has more content planned on the way for its Mini-SackBoy as well.

Sony Pulls the Plug on Go!Messenger Service for the PSP Console

50°
269w ago - Edge has confirmed that Sony will offcially be pulling the plug on the Go!Messenger service that was launched one year ago on February 29th in PSP Firmware 3.90.

The downloadable VOIP service will be closed on March 31st, just barely being available for more than one year. Originally listed online in a forum post (now removed), a PlayStation Network community team leader commented and then an SCEE spokesperson confirmed:

"Although Go!Messenger brought innovative communications features to the PSP community, the service has not developed the base of users that we were hoping for. We'd like to thank all fans of Go!Messenger and are sorry to have to make this announcement."

Go!Messenger was established from a partnership between Sony and the service's wireless network operator, BT. It allowed PSP users to send videos, voice recordings and text messages, as well as talk directly via video-chat.

SCEE has confirmed to Edge that there were no jobs directly tied to Go!Messenger within the company, and so no jobs will be lost from the withdrawal of the service.

Rest In Peace: Traditional Console RPG Titles

200°
269w ago - Have you misplaced a part of your youth? A convoluted, engrossing story? Individualized, quirky characters? A grossly overpowered, unusually stylish protagonist? Looking for that four person party? That menu driven combat? The countless amount of grinding? The four to six stage final boss?

If you've answered yes to one or all of these questions, then you, like me, are itching for a traditional, console-style RPG.

I, more than most, will play anything that receives a decent amount of buzz. I've tackled everything, within the last few years, from Fallout 3 to Eternal Sonata to Rise of the Argonauts to Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core, with most titles offering an engrossing experience that I can thoroughly explore and enjoy a fulfilling journey.

But most action RPGs (and similar variations), unless new aspects are added along the course of the game, get boring and repetitive. I don't know how many times I had to put down FFVII: Crisis Core in disgust because I just couldn't take the monotonous combination of mission-driven sidequests and mindless repetition of the "x" button.

Yet, I cannot dispel (you see that I did there?) my anger onto this sect of role playing games. I enjoy the adventure they produce, while also finding myself becoming completely engulfed by their respective...

New Twisted Metal Details for Sony's PlayStation 3 Console

100°
269w ago - Unless you have been living under a rock you probably already have heard of Twisted Metal coming to the PS3.

This game is personally one of my top 3 car combat games of all time, plus the new PS3 version is being developed by one of the best developers in the game Industry, David Jaffe. He is well known for the Twisted Metal series and the God of War series.

He confirmed that this game will be coming exclusively to the PS3 with no further info on the game until now.

I have covered every possible factual thing related to Twisted Metal for the PS3 on the Internet for months, and here are some of my findings, but remember nothing has been confirmed about this game so these are all still rumors:

• Tons of weapons and combo attacks
• Improved vehicle physics
• Game will run at a smooth 60-frames-per-second
• All the old characters are back including some new faces
• Co-op modes

I personally can't wait to see more news and trailers for this game because we haven't heard much news about this triple A title in a while.
