Video: Sumioni: Demon Arts for PS Vita Platforming Action Demo

100°
154w ago - Today XSEED Localization Specialist Tom Lipschultz has posted up a video demonstrating the combination of classic Japanese Art and modern platforming action of Sumioni: Demon Arts for PS Vita consoles.

To quote: Before you stands a tower, and upon that tower stands an angry bowman, shooting wave upon wave of arrows in your direction. He's far out of reach, and the tower completely blocks your path, so you're forced to deal with this situation in order to proceed - but how do you go about it?

You could always hack at the tower's support structure with your sword, wearing it away bit by bit until the whole thing comes tumbling to the ground...but that might take a while, and the bowman would be shooting you in the head repeatedly the whole time.

Maybe you'd be better off taking out your paintbrush and drawing a sloped platform up, over and around the tower, creating a bridge to guide you past it safely. Or perhaps you could set the tower (and its occupant) ablaze, or spawn a lightning-spewing thundercloud above it and let Mother Nature handle the rest.

Or, if you're feeling particularly frisky, how about summoning a phoenix or a sacred lion and directing it to spew waves of holy energy at the tower, instantly reducing it and any threats beyond it to ashes?

Video: Picodrive Sega Megadrive Emulator Demo via HBL on PS Vita

1300°
156w ago - Following up on his previous confirmation, today Sony PlayStation Vita hacker wololo has made available a video below demonstrating the Half Byte Loader (HBL) running the Picodrive Sega Megadrive emulator with Sonic & Knuckles on PS Vita.

To quote: Update: One important clarification: This video shows HBL running on the latest firmware 1.510. The firmware update that happened today does not patch the exploit, unlike what some sites are saying.

A few days ago Japanese developer Teck4 posted a picture of a “hello world” running on the PS Vita through the PSP emulator. I contacted him immediately with some help from Mamosuke, and I soon got enough information to start working on porting Half Byte Loader to this exploit (note that Teck4 is also working on exploiting this vulnerability further, but I don’t know how far he’s been).

What you see in the video below is the game “Sonic & Knuckles” running in picodrive, a Megadrive emulator for the PSP.

Yes, I’m running an emulator...

157w ago - Today Spanish PlayStation 3 developer DemonHades has shared a video demonstrating the loading of MAtherOS in JFW DH PS3 CFW 3.56 with EGEA LV1 Patching via dynamic patching of LV1 with EGEA at the system boot.

To quote, roughly translated: MAtherOS working in JFW-DH356MA with EGEA

This video shows how it is possible to load a different Operative System in the MA all this by the dynamic patching of lv1 with EGEA at the system boot, the core is left untouched and Gentoo is used as example distribution.

In this video the dynamic patching of EGEA is put to the test to allow us to use otherOS in JFW-DH356MA.

This is one of the many functions of EGEA, expect a lot more.

Thanks to Blackdeath for making this addon, to Rokiski for EGEA, JaiCraB for his everlasting collaboration and help, to DemonHades for the collaboration and design, thanks to the demons at DemonHades.org and followers.

Bye
