European PlayStation Store Update for December 3, 2009

100°
246w ago - Update: For those curious, SCEE's Christmas Store updates are confirmed to be on December 22 and January 7th, 2010.

Today Mike Kebby from SCEE's PlayStation Store Team has posted this week's European PSN Store Update.

To quote: This week we see the Bayonetta demo released to our collective shores, so this seems to be definitely worth checking out, especially for fans of games such as Devil May Cry.

For the sports fans among you, in particular fans of the 'sweet science', there are additional boxers, and modes released for Fight Night Round 4 - Hopkins, Holyfield and Liston are great additions to the roster (but personally I'd especially love to see David Haye added at some point too).

For anybody who finds Veteran difficulty on Modern Warfare 2 far too easy, then you would have probably checked out Operation Flashpoint already and the additional pack Dragon Rising Skirmish releases today adding extra multiplayer maps and FTE missions to test your skills further.

Finally a quick mention of our latest batch of Special Offers, we have five PS3 titles and five PSP titles at reduced prices for two weeks, then from the 17th of December we will have a glut of promotions in celebration of Christmas. Full details below...

246w ago - Update: For those curious, [Register or Login to view links] reports that the Gran Turismo 5 Time Trial demo is now on the Japanese PlayStation Store, weighing in at 201MB in size and playable in English.

Today Sony's European Brand Manager Penrose Tackie has announced that GT Academy 2010 launches on December 17th with a downloadable Time Trial.

He also shared a trailer video and some GT5 demo details, as follows:

Following the groundbreaking success of the GT Academy last year and as part of our activities around the forthcoming launch of Gran Turismo 5, I am delighted to officially unveil GT Academy 2010.

On 17th December exclusively via the PlayStation store, we will be launching the GT Academy 2010 Time Trial. The time trial will be the only way into this year's Academy, and if you've got what it takes it could be the start of a life-changing journey.

Last year the GT Academy programme unearthed a real driving talent in the form of Lucas Ordonez from Spain, who after winning the GT Academy went on to drive for the Nissan PlayStation race team and take an astonishing second place in the GT4 Championship - all in his first season!

246w ago - Contrary to previous reports of a delay, today Q-Games Ltd. President and Executive Producer Dylan Cuthbert has announced that PixelJunk Shooter for PS3 and PSP will be hitting the PlayStation Store on December 10, 2009.

A video interview is below, and to quote: We know you've been patiently waiting for your chance to finally go hands-on with the fourth game in the PixelJunk series. So let me lead off by formally announcing: PixelJunk Shooter will become available on the PlayStation Store next Thursday, December 10th.

We've been holding on to this video interview with SCEE's Jem Alexander and I until we were ready to announce PixelJunk Shooter's release date. With that out of the way, hit "play" below:

I was a bit tired during that interview, which is my excuse for the over-use of the adjective "cool" (the game *is* cool though! *Very* cool cool indeed)! Here's the story behind that:

The time was 12am midnight and it was a warm early Autumn night and my heavily loaded car was waiting for me to drive it from Kyoto to Tokyo (estimated 8 hour drive).  This was the start of our journey to the Tokyo...

Dylan Cuthbert, the President and Managing Director of Q-Games, posted the following comments on his personal [Register or Login to view links] page, to quote:

"all I can say is we're aiming for Dec. 24th in Japan"
