Video: Play Real Guitar on Your PlayStation 3 with Rocksmith

128w ago - Creative Director Paul Cross of the Rocksmith Team has shared a video today demonstrating how to play real guitar on your PlayStation 3 with Rocksmith.

To quote: My name is Paul Cross and I am the Creative Director on the [Register or Login to view links] Team.

My previous projects include Burnout, Skate and No More Heroes 2: Desperate Struggle - and I want give you a little bit of background on Rocksmith, a music game that lets you plug a real guitar into your PS3 and play along to a great list of well-known rock songs when it comes to Europe this September.

The project started in early 2008 when [Register or Login to view links] started talking to a company called Game Tank. These guys had a tech demo that allowed the player to plug in any real guitar into a PS3, and the game would tell them if they were playing the right notes at the right times. Ubisoft liked the demo so much that they bought the company!

When Nao Higo, Sr. Producer and I first started on what was to become Rocksmith in October 2009, it was a tech demo called 'Guitar Rising' that featured sideways scrolling tablature and a number of difficulty levels you could select from. Here's a promo vid of Guitar Rising from way back in the day:

Video: Hands-On: PSN Game Datura with PlayStation Move

128w ago - Sony Senior Social Media Specialist Sid Shuman is here with a new video demonstrating PlayStation Move with the new PSN game Datura below.

To quote: I've never seen a game quite like Datura. I encountered this upcoming PSN adventure title last week during a GDC demonstration that showed off the game's intricate use of the PlayStation Move motion controller.

In Datura, your gestures with PS Move guide a disembodied hand onscreen, a bit like a mouse cursor but in a full 3D space. The motion tracking is 1:1, so I was able to reach into the game to interact with the environment, whether it was to caress a tree trunk or pull a hand-drawn map in for closer inspection.

In the video below, Producer Matt Morton gives a full tour of Datura's interface and universe - it's absolutely worth watching.

Intrigued by the game's cryptic presentation and strong emphasis on player choice, I spoke with Director Michal Staniszewski to learn more about his inspirations.

If Datura intrigues you, be sure to tune into this Thursday's PlayStation Blogcast for another segment discussing this enigmatic PSN title. And if you have questions, be sure to leave them in the comments.

Video: Closure: PSN's Next Innovator Arrives on March 27, 2012

128w ago - Eyebrow Interactive Lead Designer & Programmer Tyler Glaiel has announced today alongside a video trailer that Closure, PSN's next innovator, will be officially arriving on March 27, 2012!

To quote: I know we're all heavily enjoying Journey right now (it's amazing), but don't shut off your PS3 when you're done with it because another awesome game, Closure, is coming out at the end of the month.

We just finished our launch trailer, which you can watch below right now!

Just for recap, Closure is a puzzle platformer based around manipulating lights to phase objects in and out of reality. The core gameplay premise is: If you can't see it, it doesn't exist.

It's a simple enough concept to understand, but the puzzles are anything but. A team of three (myself, artist Jon Schubbe, musician Christopher Rhyne) have spent three years working on Closure, designing nearly 100 unique and challenging puzzles spread across a variety of dark and eerie settings including a decrepit factory, a murky forest, an abandoned carnival, and a few other locales that I'll leave as a surprise.

Closure is not just about its setting and atmosphere, though. There is a heavy focus on the puzzles themselves,...
