PlayStation Plus: Sign 1-Year Membership and Get 3 Months Free

100°
76w ago - Sony PlayStation Digital Platforms Community Manager Morgan Haro announced today that those who sign up for a 1-year membership in PlayStation Plus will get 3 months free.

To quote: We're continuing to bring you great offers here at PlayStation to start off 2013 right, and our latest deal can help you take advantage of everything PlayStation Plus has to offer for the rest of the year and beyond.

For a limited time, we're giving you three extra months of Plus at no additional cost when you sign up for a one-year membership.

The time to become a PlayStation Plus member couldn't be better. We ended 2012 with the addition of PlayStation Plus and the Instant Game Collection on PS Vita, for a combined savings of $2,472 for the year.

That includes free games and discounts for both PS3 and PS Vita, and we've got plenty more plans for PlayStation Plus in 2013. Yesterday we released our brand new Classic White PlayStation 3, which comes with a huge 500 GB hard drive (plenty of room for your Instant Game Collection).

The Classic White PS3 package also comes with a voucher for one year of PlayStation Plus - if you redeem the voucher during this...

Sony Confirms Beats Slider is Free This Week on PlayStation Mobile

50°
76w ago - Sony Director of Emerging Platforms Chris Mahoney has confirmed that Beats Slider is free this week on PlayStation Mobile.

Below are the details, as follows: Last week saw the launch of a PlayStation Mobile promotion that will offer six free games over six weeks, starting with Samurai Beatdown.

This week, the free PlayStation Mobile game is Beats Slider. Master the puzzle gameplay by sliding different note blocks into sequences to create catchy electro tunes and compete for the best times online!

Recently, we invited FuturLab's Managing Director James Marsden to explain the ins and outs of the game on PlayStation.Blog. Here's what separates Beats Slider from its contemporaries:

Each block of the sliding puzzle represents MIDI data, which is basically musical notation that computers can read. MIDI data can be used to play back any instrument, synthesizer, drum loop or whatever you throw at it, just by changing the instruments or samples that are triggered by it.

So what we've done is allow the player to push a drum loop MIDI pattern into a synthesizer slot, or a melody pattern into a bass line track, and every combination you could think...

New PlayStation All-Stars Join Battle February 12, Free for Two Weeks

100°
77w ago - SuperBot Entertainment Community Manager Daniel Maniago has revealed today that new PlayStation All-Stars will join the battle on February 12th, and will be free for two weeks!

To quote: I'm excited to finally announce that our first wave of PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale DLC will be available February 12th. Here's what to expect.

Kat graces PlayStation All-Stars Battle Royale with her presence, as an up-close melee fighter who utilizes her ability to manipulate gravity to turn the tide in battle.

Players who enjoyed Gravity Rush on PS Vita know that Kat loves to bend gravity to allow her to dash, slide, and fly from one place to another, and her All-Stars incarnation is no exception. Those who enjoy AP burst combos and varied mobility will definitely gravitate towards Kat.

Emmett Graves from Starhawk joins the fray! He brings his signature "Build & Battle" style from Starhawk, calling down different structures to aid him in battle, including Rift Extractors for AP and Flak Turrets that fire at will.

Aside from his default rifle and pistol, Emmett can also call for additional weaponry in the form of shotgun and rocket launcher loadouts, allowing him to adapt to any situation. These...

Video: Urban Trial Freestyle Racing Soon to Hit PSN and PS Vita

200°
77w ago - Tate Interactive GM Wojtek Bilinski has announced today alongside a video trailer that Urban Trial Freestyle Racing is soon to hit both PSN and PS Vita platforms.

To quote: There are motorcycle arcade style games out there already, and although many are really fun (everybody remembers Elastomania!) most of them lack depth.

So with Urban Trial Freestyle, we decided to add high-quality graphics and a modern social experience to the gameplay to bring this genre to a whole new level.

We wanted Urban Trial Freestyle to provide players with the highest level of competition as possible, so we are including about 100 different leaderboards. Players can compare their best score and best time depending on two different game modes.

For example, in stunt mode, players can compete to be named "Best Stuntman" on every track. There are 20 tracks, and five kinds of stunts to perform on each track - and each one of them has its own leaderboard - all making Urban Trial Freestyle more unique and more competitive!

Arcade games are great for quick competitions so we also gave Time Attack mode a boost by storing the ghost of the best player on PlayStation Network so everyone can challenge him/her (it's possible to choose worldwide best player or best amongst your friends).

Sony Offers Free PlayStation Mobile Game Wednesdays for Six Weeks

100°
77w ago - Sony PlayStation Digital Platforms Community Manager Paul Sullivan has announced today that they will be offering a free PlayStation Mobile Game every Wednesday for six weeks!

To quote: We're still in a giving mood long after the holidays have come and gone. To prove it, we're giving away six PlayStation Mobile games. Each week for the next six weeks, you'll be able to pick up one PlayStation Mobile title for free - that's a new free title each week.

To kick off this party we needed to find a title with a lot of punch, and we couldn't think of anything more appropriate than Samurai Beatdown. This fast-paced, side-scrolling slash-em-up pits your samurai rhythm skills against waves and waves of evil demons.

Download the game for free from the PlayStation Mobile Store on your PS Vita or [Register or Login to view links]. It's free now, so be sure to jump in and pick up your copy today.

Then check the Store Update post each Tuesday between now and February 19th to see which new PlayStation Mobile game will be free that week! One new game will be listed as free each Wednesday.

If you've never downloaded a game from the Mobile store, now's...
