New Tales of Graces Scan Reveals Two New PS3 Characters

50°
284w ago - A new Tales of Graces scan is available, which appears to reveal two new playable characters, as well as some new information about the PlayStation 3 port of Tales of Vesperia.

This game is the first mothership (Namco Bandai's term for non-spin-off games in the Tales of series) game for the Wii.

The previous Tales of game for the Wii, Tales of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World, was classified as a spin-off sequel.

To quote: The black-haired male's name is Hubert Oswell (voiced by Takahiro Mizushima) and is Asbel's younger brother (by one year), and the red-haired female's name is Shelia Barnes/Burns (voiced by Shiho Kawaragi).

It appears the male favors close-hand combat, while the female uses spells to attack. The scan also shows a new swimsuit costume for Flynn, entitled Short-Sleeved Prince, which has Mieu from Tales of the Abyss on the logo.

ModNation Racers: Play, Create, and Share on the Race Track

289w ago - UFG Associate Producer Dan Sochan has introduced ModNation Racers for Sony's PlayStation 3 console today.

To quote: Greetings from [Register or Login to view links], in Vancouver British Columbia. We're really excited to finally be able to talk to you about ModNation Racers.

It's rare as developers that you get the opportunity to make the game you've always dreamt of creating, but that's the fantastic situation that we're in. We wanted to make a game that had the pick up and play accessibility of a kart game, with the depth and handling of a classic racer.

So, we made ModNation Racers, a fresh take on a classic kart racing game that empowers you, the player, to personalize the entire game.

Vinyl art & collector toys were an inspiration for us as we set out to create a game about creativity and self expression. It was in this spirit of creativity that we developed our character, kart and track editors.

We wanted to give the user the ability to make whatever they wanted, but do so in a way that felt like playing and not working. For example, you just drive and the track is created behind you, so it's intuitive and fun.

An expression that came up early in development was "anonymity to superstardom", which...

293w ago - Konami Online's Brandon Laurino has revealed today both a Race Mission and 'Patriot' PS3 details for Metal Gear Online, as follows:

Hello all! The [Register or Login to view links] was recently released for Metal Gear Online, which came with a ton of exciting new features, maps, and of course two new playable characters, Vamp and Raiden. But there's even more content coming soon!

Starting on May 12th 2009, all players, not just those who have purchased SCENE, will be able to play an entirely new game mode, Race Mission! This mode pits two teams against each other, with the Blue Team searching for and protecting the KEROTAN target, and the Red Team searching for and protecting the GA-KO target.

Each time a team passes a check point with its target in hand, a new checkpoint will be generated. If a team drops its target and the target is not retrieved within a set period of time, the target's position will be reset and the checkpoint will change.

There will also be an exciting new "Patriot" feature available to all players, starting on May 26th. This feature will select a few lucky players every week starting from the 26th, and give them exclusive access to a 5.56mm Hand Rifle with infinite ammunition and no reload....

Tales of Vesperia, Tales of Graces, Tales of VS Coming in 2009

250°
298w ago - Japanese publication 'Jump' has unveiled information on the Tales game series as follows:

Tales of Vesperia will be hitting the PS3 later this year. The latest issue of Jump in Japan has a massive blowout of Tales of announcements for the Wii, PSP, and PS3.

Tales of Graces will be the next Tales game to land on Wii. Planned to release later this year, Tales of Graces is the first main Tales title to land on Wii.

While details are scarce at the moment, we do know that the plot will entail a theme of protecting people. The main character vows to never lose someone important again.

Tales of VS will be landing on the PSP and will be the direct rival of Dissidia: Final Fantasy. Fundamentally sharing the same basic overview, Tales of VS will have 4-player fighting mode.

Thus far, only Yuri (Tales of Vesperia), Luke (Tales of the Abyss), Shing (ToH) and Richter (ToSKoR) have been revealed. I'm sure Lloyd will make an appearance as well.

Finally, we have Tales of Vesperia for PS3. The PS3 version will come with a new character named Patty Fleur.

Other than that, we have little to no details about any other changes Tales of Vesperia will get before it releases later this year.

Are Sony the Smart Ones with the PS3 in this Console Race?

200°
307w ago - There's no doubt that Sony has made mistakes this generation such as underestimating both Microsoft and Nintendo. Another mistake is relying too much on the brand image and not pumping out enough marketing.

However, if you have a look at the bigger picture, I think Sony are the smart ones in this console race, and I'm going to tell you why...

The Internet has been full of articles on why the PS3 is in trouble and how Sony have made mistakes since it launched. So I thought it would be right to give a fresh opinion on the matter.

There's no question that the PS3 has had a rocky start; it launched with very few quality games and it was argued by many that at its inception there was very little incentive to buy the PS3 over the older and cheaper Xbox 360.

The Xbox also had more titles and many multi-platform games that felt so much better than their PS3 counter-parts. As we approach the PS3's two-year anniversary in Europe however, the console is looking very different.

There are many quality titles under the PS3's belt including some impressive exclusives like LittleBigPlanet and Resistance 2. With Killzone 2 and hundreds of other titles just on the horizon, why does the media still bash the PS3?

Could it be 'revenue related'. The huge majority...
