Aqua Kitty: Milk Mine Defender Free This Week on PlayStation Mobile

74w ago - Sony Director of Emerging Platforms Chris Mahoney has announced today that Aqua Kitty: Milk Mine Defender is free this week on PlayStation Mobile.

Below are the details, to quote: Normally, you wouldn't expect cats, milk, action and water to go together. But in the case of PlayStation Mobile's fourth free game give away, it does. Aqua Kitty: Milk Mine Defender is available for free this week.

This action-oriented, side-scrolling shooter puts you in charge of a team of cats whose mission is to search the depths of the oceans for massive reserves of tasty milk buried underground. This game is a side-scroller's dream and reminds gamers of the intense action, cool music, and colorful graphics of the 16-bit gaming era.

The founder of [Register or Login to view links], Dugan Jackson, had this to say about what influenced him in designing Aqua Kitty: Milk Mine Defender for PlayStation Mobile.

A lot of games from my younger years certainly have influences on Aqua Kitty. Amiga games like Turrican, Rainbow Islands, New Zealand Story - as well as late '80s arcade games such as R-Type, Raiden, Mr Heli and In The Hunt - all great examples of fantastic pixel art design which have fed back into my own art style over the years.

In terms of gameplay, we have a few...

Video: Urban Trial Freestyle Amps Up on PS3 and PS Vita

50°
75w ago - Tate Interactive GM Wojtek Bilinski has shared a video trailer today announcing that Urban Trial Freestyle amps up on both PS3 and PS Vita platforms.

To quote: We are getting closer to releasing Urban Trial Freestyle - and since we've focused on the PS3 version, we thought it was time to shed more light on the PS Vita version.

Both versions of Urban Trial Freestyle feature the same proprietary physics engine (called Elephant Engine), so in terms of being a trial biking experience, PS Vita and PS3 are quite similar.

Both platforms also feature the same game modes, outfits and motorbike customization. PS Vita is a really powerful machine - as a development team, we were able to include all the same features as those on the PS3 version.

Still, there are some differences between the two versions, including events and background action, billboards and challenges.

PS Vita has a smaller screen, and we decided that trying to match the big platform level of detail would be too much on a handheld platform. When you play Urban Trial Freestyle on your PS3, its likely you'll have a much bigger screen, chilling in a comfortable position in front of the TV, so you can really absorb more elements and...

Cubixx Free This Week on PlayStation Mobile for Week Three

50°
75w ago - Sony Director of Emerging Platforms Chris Mahoney has announced today that Cubixx is free this week on PlayStation Mobile for week three of their ongoing promotional campaign.

Below are the details, to quote: Two weeks ago, we started a PlayStation Mobile promotion that offered six free games over six weeks. The first two games were Samurai Beatdown and Beats Slider.

This week, we're pleased to announce that the free PlayStation Mobile game is Cubixx. In this fun an addictive game, you have to use your laser to cut away the surfaces of a mysterious cube and free the energy within. Cutting longer lines and crossing multiple cube surfaces gives you bigger combos, but at far greater risk.

This is a great old-school, highscore-chasing game with 20 fun filled levels. Ross Brierley, a game tester with Laughing Jackal, had this to say about Cubixx when it launched in October 2012 on [Register or Login to view links].

Cubixx was our first self-published title and also spawned a sequel in the form of our first ever full PS3 game, the amazing Cubixx HD. Upon release, this thrilling action puzzler was awarded 9/10 by The Sixth Axis, who called it: "massively addictive."
