Euro WipEout HD Patch Fixes Freezing Issues for Popular Players

50°
302w ago - Just over two weeks ago there were reports of WipEout HD crashing/freezing and some partially-working DIY-style fixes.

The good news is, WipEout HD has now been patched in order to fix the common game freezing problem among PSN users with over 50 friends.

Currently this patch is available for the European version only, though it is expected to go live in America very soon. The patch notes, which can be retrieved from within the game, state that your save file needs to be deleted after the patch has been installed for the fix to take affect.

This means your lap times, team loyalties and other single-player stats and options will be lost. Your trophies and leaderboard scores, however, won't be lost.

If you've been sidestepping the issue by playing whilst signed out of the PSN, starting again is no doubt quite an annoyance. Don't get too upset, though, at least you can now play online with your friends.

WipEout HD Reports of Crashing/Freezing Surface; Possible Fixes

100°
304w ago - Several have reported on the official UK PlayStation forum (linked above) that they are experiencing random crashes and freezing issues with the recently released WipEout HD.

Based on user feedback thus far, the bug appears to be affecting only those with too many people (50+) on their PSN friends list. SCEE Community Team Leader MusterBuster stated that Sony is looking into the issue, however, some are reporting possible "fixes" until an official update or patch is made available.

To quote lowrider007: Well, for me anyway, I can now play signed into PSN and no freezes, I updated my firmware to 2.43 and it seems to be fine now, I've had it on for about 3 hours now and it's the first time it hasn't locked up at all, strange that should fix my issue, perhaps their was a glitch in my last FW update for something.

To quote D-E-V-I-L-08: Listen carfully...

1. Sort out your buddy list - At 1st I had 61 friends.. and moved down to 38 friends.
2. Then delete both Wipeout game PLUS the system key (found in system data) and delete gamesave too.
3. Go to your download list.. then install the FULL GAME KEY (100kb) File 1st
4. Download the game
5. After completion, Install the game.. then.. turn PlayStation 3 off... and on
6. Run game.. and...

Incoming Bad Company update brings Maps, Bug Fixes, Trophies

100°
306w ago - Remember BattleField: Bad Company? Of course you do. Some of you are probably still playing it. If you aren't, then you soon might be because the game is due to get a shot in the arm before too long.

After running a contest through which players could decide on which map pack DICE should start working on first, a post has gone up on the official blog to let us know that there will be other content coming when the map pack drops.

There's no indication on when that'll be, or if it'll cost us anything, but the accompanying patch will be free, at least. With this patch DICE are looking to fix several bugs, such as server lag and VOIP issues. There will also be various gameplay tweaks.

Not only that, but three weapons, previously only obtainable through pre-ordering, playing the demo or signing up to the newsletter, will be made available to everyone for free. Check out the full list of fixes and tweaks at the official blog.

Finally (saving the best til last) the patch will add trophy support to the game. PS3 gamers are being spoilt by all these free, content patches. Not that we're complaining. We hope to find out when this'll hit soon.
