Kojima: Americans Brag, PS3 No Letdown, Kotaku is Wrong

50°
350w ago - No, no, no! When Hideo Kojima said the MGS4 graphics on the PS3 weren't to his "satisfaction" or that he realized there were lots of "restrictions" the PS3 posed, he didn't mean it. He was just trying to be humble, you know!

He's not disappointed with the PS3 at all. He is totally happy with it. The PS3 is awesome. Says Kojima:

"On the Internet, there's stuff saying "Hideo Kojima" isn't satisfied with the PS3. I'd like to talk about that today. I just got back from Paris and did 15 interviews and everyone asked me about it, did I say that. The meaning of what I said has totally been changed, made totally different. Today, I'd like to talk about that. Why did it turn into that?

When I'm doing an interview, I answer in Japanese, and I can't control how the writer will interpret that into English... What I say is then translated in English, and the writer then changes that into their own words and writes that. So, right there, the meaning of what I say changes a lot."

"I am Japanese, so I try to be modest. I'm an especially modest person. I dont wish to brag about it to say "I am the amazing Metal Gear guy" or to say "This is the best one", just like how Americans brag stuff like this... That's why I interview in Japanese, and Mr. Sai (translator) translates my side of the...

There's a reason to buy Madden 09 this year!

100°
350w ago - EA and Tiburon have set the bar high this year with Madden NFL 09, providing not only 60fps gameplay for the PlayStation 3 platform but rethinking and improving much of their game mechanics and A.I. system. For all the Madden fans out there, get excited, because this year's edition will be worth every penny of your hard earned cash.

To begin, when players start the game up for the first time, instead of the usual game menu, they will be greeted by John Madden in a holographic training session. There are 12 tests with up to three difficulties which will help determine the player's skill level.

These tests range from passing and running the ball to special teams. Depending on the score of each test, the game will automatically assign a curve that is adaptive to the player's play style allowing for a more competitive CPU. This new difficulty will show up as "My Skill" in the settings menu and players may adjust aspects of the computer difficulty if they feel the CPU is too hard or easy in some areas.

The overall score on the tests will also affect the player's beginning Madden IQ, which will rise as the player's skill increases. The Madden IQ plays into the system much like last year's Madden level.

The holographic training session is still a work in progress and...

Rumor: Killzone 2 Levels are to Take 50 Minutes

250°
350w ago - According to a member of the GameTrailers Forum, someone over at NEOGAF learned that Killzone 2 will take about 45/50 minutes to complete each level. To quote:

"I saw Playr this morning too. It's basically the new version of Gamer TV. Made by the same people with the same format but with a different, less nasally, presenter. Airs in the UK on Bravo at the weekend (a satellite/cable channel).

They had a Sony rep demoing KZ2. He spoke about AI advancements although it wasn't abundantly clear that the clips tallied with what he was saying.

Couple of other things though. The dude said there were some new weapons that people would be impressed with. He then cryptically added that we'd see them in the next couple of months. Magazine exclusive reveal or more likely E3?

He also said every level would take about 45/50 minutes to complete"

Reminder: Want the PS3 Unlocked? Check the PS3 Forums often!

350w ago - Yesterday I posted a thread in the PlayStation 3 Chat Forum on behalf of the resident PS3 Devs who have been working steadily towards the ultimate goal of unlocking the PS3's full potential. Up until now, much of what they have been doing has been quite technical and didn't require much end-user assistance.

Over the last 2-3 days they have made significant progress in multiple areas of the PS3 (which will be detailed in the Site News), however, they are now asking the PS3 community to "get out of your armchair" (see video below- the ball symbolizes the PS3, the goal is unsigned code, and the community are in the chairs). How can you help? Check the Forums daily: [PS3 Dev Request]: Have a PSP and familiar with .RCO files?

350w ago - In a press release sent out today announcing a partnership between Marvelous Entertainment and XSEED Games, Valhalla Knights 2 was officially announced and scheduled for a fall 2008 release. This is the first title that will be published and distributed by the newly formed partnership.

Valhalla Knights 2 is the sequel to the original Valhalla Knights for Sony's portable system. Valhalla Knights 2 will, according to the press release, add new job classes, races, weapons, spells and other items for RPG enthusiasts. Gamers will be able to experience six-on-six tactical battles during gameplay and the title will also feature two-player ad-hoc support.

"Valhalla Knights 2 will carry on the legacy its predecessor established as a beloved game in any RPG player's library," says Ken Berry, marketing and sales at XSEED.

"We appreciate this game being the first in our co-publishing partnership with Marvelous Entertainment as it will help to set the quality standard high for all future games coming out of this deal."
