LocoRoco 2 for PlayStation Portable Rolling to North America Soon

50°
300w ago - SCEA Santa Monica Producer Tsubasa Inaba shared the following PSP title update today:

I'm happy to officially announce here on the PlayStation Blog that LocoRoco 2 is coming to North America soon! Very soon.

In fact, you will be able to play it on your PSP in less than 2 months – it will be available in stores on UMD on FEBRUARY 10, 2009! If you don't have a PSP yet, this is a good reason to ask Santa for one.

With even more content than the original, LocoRoco 2 will add plenty of gameplay enhancements (like swimming in underwater levels!) and will feature new story-driven stages, unlockable quests and a new twist to the game's catchy music.

We have also added multiplayer mode via ad hoc. More to come on all of these new features and what else you can expect in LocoRoco 2 soon, so keep an eye out for us. But for now, enjoy this trailer and let us know what you think of it!

Crash Commando for PlayStation 3 Coming Soon to PSN!

302w ago - EPOS Game Studios CEO Olof Gustafsson shared the following today via PS Blog:

Hi all! This is Olof Gustafsson and Magnus Isaksson from EPOS Game Studios writing our first entry on the Blog, and we are going to introduce you all to Crash Commando for PS3, available soon on PlayStation Network!

It is a side-scrolling shooter that we think can and will satisfy any urge of frag-fests during Xmas and the cold months thereafter – killing friends and strangers in comic violence on PSN.

As this is the first game from us as a company – we know most of you have never heard about EPOS at all before. EPOS Game Studios is a small studio located in Sweden with a 5-man production team – with main occupations being split up between 2 programmers, 2 artists and a sound guy.

The idea:

The initial idea for Crash Commando was inspired by a lot of different titles over the last two decades. One game that springs to mind is JETPAC on the old Commodore VIC-20. The challenge was to create a fun game that clearly flirts with the retro genre, giving the players the opportunity to play in teams or against each other in real-time, incorporating the depth of a modern game while maintaining the retro core values.

Sony Confirms PlayStation Home Launch Soon, Maybe Next Week?

50°
302w ago - Jack Buser, the director of PlayStation Home has confirmed that the launch of PlayStation Home is imminent, although he would not get into the specific details of the exact date of release.

In related news, mainstream news site TimesOnline stated yesterday, "To try Home, which is slated for release in the next 10 days, players must download a piece of free software from Sony's PlayStation store onto their own PS3."

If accurate, this would put a PlayStation Home public release on track for the rumored December 17 date previously reported.

To quote: Amid rumors of a December launch for PlayStation Home, SCEA has confirmed to Joystiq that the social platform's public, open beta phase will arrive before the end of calendar year 2008, as we've been hearing for some time.

"We've been saying it will launch by the end of calendar year 2008," PlayStation Home director, Jack Buser, responded when asked about a December release. "And that's getting very, very close," he concluded, laughing.

"Launch is imminent," Buser confirmed - although neither he nor an SCEA rep were willing to divulge an exact day of...

Lumines Supernova Coming to PSN Soon with LittleBigPlanet Skin!

302w ago - Q Entertainment's Executive Producer Tetsuya Mizuguchi announced that LUMINES Supernova is coming very soon to PSN:

Hello from Tokyo! This is Tetsuya Mizuguchi from Q Entertainment.

Back in 2005, the original concept for the PSP was to be the Walkman of the 21st century. This new handheld machine was packed full of promises, so we worked hard to have a game ready for the hardware launch. That game was called "Lumines".

The inspiration for Lumines came to me one night as I was sitting on a sandy beach looking up at the starry skies. Beautiful graphics, powerful sound, and the ability to affect both while playing, all packed into such a tiny portable package - Lumines was my answer to the 21st century walkman!

So here we are now in 2008. High-definition graphics have become the new standard and online technology has advanced, bringing the world even closer together. Into this environment comes the PlayStation 3, with built-in hard drive and Blu-ray disc support, as well as full online capabilities. I think the PS3 is really helping to drive this technology trend. I am very pleased that the latest version of Lumines - LUMINES Supernova - will be available on this powerful platform.

Well, it's not 2006 anymore,...

Super Stardust Portable Coming Soon to PlayStation Portable

50°
303w ago - Today Kimmo Lahtinen of Housemarque shared the following via PS Blog:

Hi, my name is Kimmo Lahtinen and I was the programming lead for Housemarque on Super Stardust Portable. Super Stardust Portable is the PSP version of our previously released PS3 title Super Stardust HD with some nice additions we think you'll enjoy.

And you'll be able to enjoy them very soon. Super Stardust Portable will be available for download on the PlayStation Store on Thursday, December 4th for just $9.99!

If there is one word to describe the game, that would be 'intense'. Your goal in the game is to simply destroy the waves after waves of enemies we throw at you and try to not get killed. If you're not constantly on the edge of your seat when trying to blow up everything in sight with dozens of asteroids coming at you all the while screen is filled with explosions and fireworks, you should probably apply for a job as an astronaut or something.

When we first got the idea from Sony about doing a PSP version of the game, we were thrilled. We think that Super Stardust is a perfect fit for a portable device, do a 10 minute session of Endless while riding on the bus into school. Pick up and play, it's like it was designed to be portable from the...
