Is Team Ninja Crafting a New Blade for Microsoft to Use on Sony?

250°
268w ago - For those of you that don€t know, in many interviews former Head of Team Ninja Tomonobu Itagaki has mentioned that a deal between Tecmo and Microsoft has been struck.

The deal involved releasing 5 exclusive titles throughout the life span of the 360. All 5 titles were to be developed by Team Ninja.

The titles mentioned were DOA 4, DOA Extreme 2, DOA Code Chronos, Project Progressive, And a secret title (which was later revealed to be Ninja Gaiden 2). We know that 3 out of the 5 titles have already been released; we also know that all 3 were released annually from 2006; in addition, we know for a fact that in a second interview with Tomonobu Itagaki, he mentioned that all the remaining titles that are set to be released exclusively for the 360 are all in development.

Not only that, but he actually mentioned that they have been in development for quite some time. If that is any indication, not only are there 2 remaining titles to be released exclusively for the 360, but we will probably be seeing them very very soon!

And if anyone has doubts regarding the level of polish of the 2 remaining titles, know this, Tomonobu itagaki left Tecmo half way through 2008. By that time, Ninja Gaiden 2 was done, and the remaining titles had already been in development for 3 years.

Team Twiizers Clears Things Up on the New 3.4 Wii Update

50°
283w ago - Nintendo released a recent update that once again tries to secure some existing bugs on the console, breaks some things, deletes others. This time they€ve also gone around and modified the TOS. As usual, mass panic ensues.

The people who are panicking can be divided roughly into two groups (non exclusive):

- The pirates
- The clueless

This should go without saying, but we don€t want to have anything to do with the former group. Nintendo is obviously going to fight piracy (and that€s going to hurt homebrew). We€ll have to deal with the homebrew part, but don€t expect that to help piracy in any way. It may, or it may not. And if it doesn€t, pirates will have to deal with fighting nintendo themselves.

The usual messages about WADs, €backups€, and all that crap are going straight to /dev/null, and we€re seeing quite a few bans due to piracy on #wiidev recently. Don€t ask us about it, don€t talk to us about it.

The clueless are panicking because, well, that€s the thing to do (OMG, new update! What will we do!). Read the Wiibrew page about the update. To clarify some things: the Twilight...

Yoshida: Team Ico Has Something Really, Really Good on the Way

50°
298w ago - The new head of Sony Computer Entertainment Shuhei Yoshida said, in an interview with the Official PlayStation Magazine, that Team Ico has something €really, really good on the way.€

The full quote: €They are working on a title. I started the ICO project. Ueda-san joined my team in Japan as a cinematic animator, but he created a short movie and presented it to me and said, €I want to make this game.€

I said, €Yes, let€s do it, but you have never made a game. We have to have experienced people do it,€ so it took a while, recruiting one person at a time. And because Fumito Ueda doesn€t compromise, we had to move the development from PSone to PlayStation 2. Then I couldn€t complete the game because I moved to the United States.

It took four years and the second game took four years too. So I started calling them the €Olympic Team.€ They haven€t released a PS3 title yet - of course not - they€ll take four years! But they have something really, really good on the way.€

Of course Yoshida would say something like that€"he kind of has to. But given the track record of Team Ico€"I think we can take his word on that.

Team overclocks Core 2 Quad to 5.1GHz, Claims World Record

298w ago - Nilay Patel writes: So we hate to break it to the good guys at Tom's Hardware, but while we're impressed that they managed to overclock a 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Quad 6600 to 5.1GHz using a cryogenic cooling system, it's not nearly close to the world record they're claiming.

We've seen P4's at up to 8.18GHz, and just a couple months ago someone jacked a Core 2 Extreme QX9775 on a Skulltrail board to 6GHz. Still, it's always fun to watch people pour liquid nitrogen over a mobo - video below.
