Video: Burnout Paradise's New Island Detailed, Heading to PSN

200°
300w ago - Ready to check out "Big Surf Island"? Burnout Paradise is expanding quite a bit in 2009, and that includes a brand new island to drive around.

The premium DLC won't be free, but considering how much Criterion has already added to the game, we don't mind the opportunity to finally give them money for something.

The island is all about crazy jumps, as this new episode of the CrashTV podcast reveals.

The video is available below, courtesy of Joystiq. Enjoy!

PlayStation 3 Home Open BETA Plans Detailed by Home Manager

200°
303w ago - PlayStation Home Community Manager TedTheDog has outlined a rough overview of the coming weeks leading up to the launch of the PlayStation 3 Home Open Beta. Details are as follows:

To quote: Excited? Me too

Frustrated? Sorry, but not long now.

Here's a rough overview of the coming weeks:

1. The version 1.0 Patch Notes will be published in the closed beta forum so they know what to expect and to help plan testing.

2. A couple of days later Version 1.0 will be released into the Closed beta. That will not happen this week.

3. SCEE will be inviting a large number of extra testers into the closed beta to load test and that process will start within a day or so of v1.0 going live. We wont invite them all straight away, we'll ramp it up over a a period of time. We will be inviting non-English speaking testers for the first time.

Languages covered will be English, French, Italian, German and Spanish. Please remember these are languages, not countries, so more than the immediately obvious countries will be included to a degree. The lists have been chosen already, dont try changing your language to get included!

4. Once we start inviting people in to the Closed Beta the public SCEE Home forums will become the Home beta test...

NXE: New XBox Experience Party and Photo Sharing Detailed

50°
303w ago - Today Microsoft has detailed NXE's party and photo sharing features via GamerScore blog as follows:

Pretty sure we can all agree that Xbox LIVE is the best place to play games, hands-down. A good game of Gears of War 2 becomes an incredible game when you get into a heavy multiplayer match with your friends - or any person you're matched with - and reduce them into small chunks with your pretty chainsaw. It's the little things in life that bring such satisfaction.

But some people asked for ways to create parties and keep entire groups of people together online, no matter what they were doing. Well, we've listened and we've delivered.

Once NXE launches on Nov. 19, it will be even easier to connect with your friends and the Xbox LIVE community of 14 million people around the world via Xbox LIVE Party*.

Xbox LIVE Party will let you and up to seven friends jump from experience to experience while staying connected at all times. If you have a weekly Gears match and one friend is always late - no worries.

The rest of you can join a Party and either voice chat or play a quick game of Castle Crashers while you wait. Once your no good, lazy butt friend shows up (you know who you are), one person will be able to bring your group into the lobby of Gears with just...

BioShock PS3 Downloadable Content Detailed and Priced

50°
304w ago - 2K Games has outlined its plans for the announced downloadable content coming to BioShock for the PlayStation 3.

On November 20, fans of splicing can pay $9.99 for three self-contained Challenge Rooms. The new rooms also offer PlayStation Trophies for clever solutions to the problems they present. The description of the rooms straight from 2K Games follows:

A Shocking Turn of Events - A Little Sister is trapped atop a Ferris wheel in an undisclosed location in Rapture. Using only the tools and environment around them, players must use their wits to create electricity to power the Ferris wheel and bring the Little Sister to safety.

The I in Team - Using limited resources, and an even more limited arsenal, players must negotiate traps and find a way to defeat a Big Daddy using their wits instead of raw firepower.

Worlds of Hurt - Step up and take on the most grueling challenge offered in the world of Rapture. Players must battle through eight rooms of Big Daddies, Splicers and the worst that Rapture has to offer. Accumulate Adam, build an arsenal of Plasmids, Tonics and Weaponry, and fight through to rescue the Little Sister.

$10 is becoming a standard price for meaty downloadable content, but we'll have to see just how much substance there is...

Grand Theft Auto IV for PC Exclusive Features Detailed

50°
309w ago - According to GameSpy, Italian magazine The Game Machine has revealed new details about the PC version of Grand Theft Auto IV as follows:

- The replay editor can record, save and edit the last 30 seconds of the game. Once you have saved your video, you can open another piece of internal software in order to change the point of view and add special effects.

The montage editor allows you to edit various replays into a single sequence, add audio tracks from the Official soundtrack of the game and add effects like transition from a sequence to another. You can then upload and publish your videos to the Rockstar Social Club to share them with the world.

- The GPS map has been improved. You can now point and click with the mouse on a specific location and make notes or add images to personalize it.

- Improved streaming will be possible with the power of todays processors. If you have seen cars on the road that matched the car you are driving, this has been somewhat fixed. More pedestrians and vehicles will be visible.
