Alternative Fix for GTA IV PS3 Freeze Issue

100°
325w ago - Firstly, this is not for the 60GB PlayStation 3's, some of which freeze up at the beginning of the game. This is for those with a 40GB console whose game often freeze up, particularly during missions.

Yesterday I connected my PlayStation Network ID to the Rockstar Social Club, ever since then my console often started with a temporary 2 - 3 second freeze when I load up my game, then luckily the game continues. But when I started with missions today my console constantly froze up at certain points, specifically at the start or end of missions.

I reset my console multiple times, yet the problem still continued. I read that others were having a similar problem, so I knew I wasn't alone. Then I thought about signing out the PlayStation Network, and for hours of playing after that the game has not frozen up once!

I then scouted the message boards and found that this particular solution completely works for other people as well. So if you're experiencing the same problem, try this as well... it definitely is a better solution than the one Take-Two offers - deleting your save game!

Apparently it has to do with the game having trouble sending your statistics to the social club server. Hopefully Rockstar Games and Sony will find a solution...

What Games Some Japanese People Polled Want Remade

50°
325w ago - No surprises here.. None at all! Japan's Dengeki Online polled a few of its readers, asking "Which video game do you want remade?" The results are:

1. Final Fantasty VII
2. Xenogears
3. Seiken Densetsu 3
4. Romancing Saga 3
5. Tactics Ogre
6. Megami Ibunroku Perusona
7. Final Fantasy IX
8. Romancing SaGa 3
9. Saga Frontier
10. Wild Arms 2

Which platforms do they want the remakes to appear on? In order of popularity: PSP, PS3, PS2, DS, Wii and Xbox 360.

The biggest factor polled Dengeki readers would take into account was "improved graphics."

That's usually how they do it!

GTA IV vs. Zelda: Ocarina of Time for the best game ever title

50°
325w ago - Since it's launch in 1998, Miyamoto's masterpiece "The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time" has filled the number one spot of many "Best Game Ever" lists. But is it about to give up it's crown?

Currently ranked at number one on popular video game ratings system GameRankings.com, Ocarina Of Time has a rating average of 97.68%. The rating, which is calculated as an average from a collection of popular website sources, has had Link's classic quest sit atop of the charts for the past 10 years, but, with the spectacle of Rockstar's new Grand Theft Auto game, it might finally be time for Nintendo's (in my opinion) best game ever to step to the side.

With a rating calculated from 12 reviews (OOT has 32) the XBOX 360 version of GTA4 is currently sitting with an average score of 99.25%. Given the sheer hype of the game as the reviews fall in we can't see the game dropping by too much either (although GameSpot.com don't like reviewing games higher than 9.6).

Many reviews already consider GTA4 to be the best game of this decade if not the best game ever.

Either way - it's a feat that has to be acknowledged. Few games have come close to Ocarina Of Time in the past 10 years - with only The Orange Box and Super Mario Galaxy posing a threat.

It's a testament to both how good Miyamoto's...

Blu-ray usage on the rise among PS3 owners, study concludes

50°
325w ago - Are you using your PS3 for Blu-ray movies? A new study shows that yes, in fact, you are. Blu-ray usage is on the rise amongst PS3 owners, according to Warner Home Video's research.

It seems that between the last quarter of 2007 and the end of February saw a usage increase of the PS3 as a Blu-ray player from 53% to 80%. In addition to this, after Sony's ad campaign pushing Blu-ray, disc sales rose from 10% to 15% between October and December of 2007.

Take it as you will, but the PS3 is definitely paving the road for Blu-ray and we hope you get more out of your system than merely playing games!
