Sega Shares Ryu ga Gotoku 3 PS3 Hardware and Package Design

100°
311w ago - Sega shared today a first look at the special PlayStation 3 hardware bundle it's preparing for the February release of Ryu ga Gotoku 3.

As [Register or Login to view links] back in December, Sega will release a PS3 hardware bundle pack for Ryu ga Gotoku 3 opposite the game's standalone release on February 26.

Called the "Nobori Ryu Pack" (unofficially translates to "Rising Dragon Pack"), this bundle includes a copy of the game and a specially designed 80 gigabyte PS3 and will be priced at 45,980 yen. Production is limited to 10,000 units.

Both the packaging and system design for the bundle are themed around the game at hand. The packaging resembles the solo version's boxart, with a drawing of main character Kiryu Kazuma looking up to the sky while smoking a cigarette. The system, based off the ceramic white PS3, has dragon tattoo markings on its top.

As previously detailed, the bundle represents a savings of 1,980 yen over purchasing the PS3 and game separately.

Those who pre-order the hardware bundle will qualify for the Kamutai Magazine item that was previously announced as a pre-order bonus for the standard version.

Sony to Advance as PS3 Makes Money, 2009 is Year of Big Titles

311w ago - SCEE president David Reeves indicated on an article on the UK PlayStation site (linked above) that the PS3 should start making money soon, and move forward quickly with the system.

Additionally, the president of SCEE worldwide studios Shuhei Yoshida commented that 2009 will be the year of big, exclusive PS3 titles, and for PSP new titles and innovations will connect and expand the PlayStation experiences.

To quote: The most important thing for us as a company in the very short term is for us to start making money. This is a pledge that was made last March and is something that we are still very much on target to achieve.

Once we have achieved this, I think it will be a very exciting time for PlayStation. Once we have alleviated that specific pressure, we can move forward at a rate of knots.

God of War 3 for PS3 Potential Makes Fallout 3 Dev Feel Faint

50°
311w ago - We're all looking forward to God of War III on PS3, and are especially excited by the prospect of taking Kratos on a Cell processor powered adventure through Hell.

But it seems there's one person in the world who's more excited than everyone else, and that's Fallout 3 lead producer Gavin Carter.

Speaking on the official [Register or Login to view links], Carter said he was most looking forward to upcoming instalments of PlayStation series that haven't seen a true next generation debut, and chief among these is God of War and Final Fantasy.

He said: "Everything I've seen on the new Final Fantasy games has looked fantastic, and I feel faint when I think of the potential of a PS3 God of War game."

High praise indeed, especially when you consider it's coming from the lead producer of a game that for many was the best of 2008.
