310w ago - We've seen plenty of games that featured a ton of blood in the past. It'd be difficult to name them all, in fact, but it's very possible that we haven't seen the most brutal depictions of violence just yet. No, there could be a new winner in the "ultimate blood-letting" category come March, and its name is Dark Sector.
First off, Games Radar has been playing an early build of the game, and they report that despite a huge number of bugs (all of which should disappear before the final product arrives), the game is both promising and gritty as all hell. We'll be using the over-the-shoulder aiming view we all enjoyed in Resident Evil 4, but even RE4 has nothing on Dark Sector when it comes to "splash damage" via impact. There's just blood everywhere, apparently, and perhaps this is due in part to the invention of the Glaive. The nasty weapon is similar to a giant ninja star crossed with a boomerang, and has the capability of shearing off limbs and heads. Combine the Glaive with a "disturbing level of detail," and you've got a game that gore aficionados are just going to adore.
If you want more details on the Glaive, check out the latest developer interview where they talk at great length about the conception and implementation of the weapon. Dark Sector is definitely going to live and die with the Glaive. In...
310w ago - Chris Priestly, a BioWare community coordinator has commented that Mass Effect for the PS3 is just a rumor at this stage. However, he comments that BioWare could make Mass Effect for the PS3 in the future but they are not working on this currently.
To quote: They sure didn't. They paid over $860 million.
Sorry folks, this is just another rumor at this stage. Could BioWare make Mass Effect for the PS3 (or the PC, or some other platform) in the future? Yes we could, but we are not working on a PS3 version currently.
I don't know who Mr Pachter is. Maybe he's a PS3 owner who wants to play Mass Effect.
310w ago - According to Japan's Nikkei Electronic News, the recently announced PSP Skype functionality may be launching as early as this month in Japan and will be limited only to owners of the PSP Slim hardware revision.
Nikki reports that a microphone accessory for use with the service will be sold separately, while the Skype software itself will be offered as a free download to all Slim owners.
The service will not carry a charge for PSP-to-PSP and PSP-to-PC calls. However, signing up for a dedicated phone number will cost around 2,250 yen.
310w ago - PvP_LostKnight added a 30GB hard drive to his PSP! There's apparently no size cap either, which means a hard drive well over 30GB in size can be installed. Files are accessed through the usbhost menu in iR Shell, as shown in the video below.
It's a very cool mod, but there is just one drawback. After installing the hard drive, you won't be able to access the UMD drive anymore. So if you're willing to do away with the UMD drive, then maybe this mod is for you. Enjoy!
