Video: Klei Tells PS4 Fans Don't Starve on PlayStation 4 at E3 2013

50°
80w ago - Klei Co-Founder Jamie Cheng told PS4 fans at E3 2013 today Don't Starve is coming on PlayStation 4 with details and some video footage below.

To quote: Very recently, we decided to throw our lot into the PS4, and announced that Don't Starve is coming on the platform. If you haven't heard about [Register or Login to view links], it's an uncompromising, wilderness survival game full of science and magic.

You play as Wilson, an intrepid Gentleman Scientist who has been trapped by a demon and transported to a mysterious wilderness world. Living in a randomly generated world, Wilson must learn to exploit his environment and its inhabitants if he ever hopes to escape. Basically, you try not to die, but you will. A lot.

Don't Starve was created to bend the rules of engagement. How do we build a game that focuses entirely on creating intrinsically rewarding gameplay?

That is, rather than the game giving the player external (extrinsic) rewards, such as loot, levels, points and trophies, the fun part of the game is simply the experience and the challenge of playing it?

Octodad: Dadliest Catch Crashes, Stumbles, and Flops on to PS4

80w ago - Young Horses President & Co-Founder Phil Tibitoski announced at E3 today that Octodad: Dadliest Catch will be crashing, stumbling and flopping on to PS4 / PlayStation 4 console.

To quote: Have you ever felt out of place? Just don't feel you're good enough, no matter how hard you try? Maybe you've got something to hide from the world.

Maybe you're not really the perfect human husband and father of three, but actually an octopus. This is what Octodad: Dadliest Catch is all about. You have a loving wife. You have adorable kids. They, however, have no idea of your secret cephalopod nature.

[Register or Login to view links] is the first slapstick fatherhood simulator, and we're excited to say that we'll be bringing it to the PlayStation 4 in 2014.

You may be asking yourself, "Well, what's so difficult about being an octopus?"

Well, first off, you're an invertebrate, so you have no bones. Your body is gelatinous. As you can imagine, that makes it hard to simply move around outside of water.

All those things we humans take for granted, like counteracting gravity, are a constant challenge. Oh, and you have eight arms you've managed to stuff into a fancy suit to form a human shape. There are...

Video: DriveClub PS4 - E3 Club Challenge & New PlayStation 4 Trailer

80w ago - Sony Community Development Manager Jamie Brayshaw made available a new DriveClub PS4 / PlayStation 4 video trailer today alongside an official E3 club challenge below.

To quote: Your reaction to #DRIVECLUB at the #playstation2013 event in February really got everyone at Evolution Studios fired up! We're so excited to finally be able to show you more of #DRIVECLUB, I can barely contain my hashtags!

We get excited about E3 every year - even to the point of setting up TV's around the studio to live stream the whole event so that we can all keep up to speed with what's hot and what's new while we work - but this year it's going to be on a completely new level.

Not just because of what 'next generation' means for games and PlayStation, but because the game we've wanted to make for almost 10 YEARS is finally going to be there at E3 (and so am I along with a few members of the team)!

I know a lot of you have been dying to see more of #DRIVECLUB in action on PlayStation 4 since the announcement, so before I go on to tell you more about what we're doing at E3, WATCH THIS VIDEO!

We're bravely letting everybody who comes to our experience room at the PlayStation booth on the E3 show floor actually...

Transistor Coming to PlayStation 4 / PS4 from Creators of Bastion

50°
80w ago - Supergiant Games Creative Director Greg Kasavin announced today that Transistor is coming to PlayStation 4 / PS4 from the creators of Bastion.

To quote: I remember when the seven of us at Supergiant were days away from revealing our first game, Bastion, back at PAX Prime in 2010. The game had been in development for about a year but we were only just figuring out how to talk about it to the public.

When people would ask us "what is this game about," what would we say? We weren't sure at first, because Bastion is an action RPG where an old man talks to you the whole time - and that sounds really, really terrible. Thankfully, those who played it tended to come away with a much more positive impression.

We eventually came up with stuff we could say about Bastion with a straight face, but by far our favorite way of presenting the game to people was to invite them to play it. Now here I am trying to tell you about our next game, Transistor, and I wish I could just hand you a controller and let you try it for yourself.

We revealed it earlier this year at PAX East, and today we've announced it will be making its console debut on the PlayStation 4 when we're finished with it sometime early next year. If you check our reveal trailer, you'll get a feel for what Transistor...

50°
80w ago - Sony Vice President of Developer and Publisher Relations Adam Boyes announced today during that E3 2013 that Indie developers are continuing to choose PlayStation.

Fron the announcement, to quote: We just wrapped up the PlayStation E3 press conference where we reaffirmed our mantra: We're For Gamers.

We also reaffirmed our dedication to independent developers and their ability to self-publish on PlayStation. We've increased our efforts in a huge way to bring unique gaming experiences to PlayStation platforms, and as we just revealed, we have an excellent lineup of games coming to the PlayStation 4 from the indie development community. Let's take a look at some of those titles:

Transistor

When Supergiant Games unveiled Transistor in March I was smitten. When I played it at PAX East I was in love (I MAY have skipped the 4 hour line to check out the game. Supergiant's newest game has all the style, mystery and flare we have come to expect from the creators of Bastion.

I look forward to unraveling Red's journey through the City. We have been eager to work with Supergiant and are happy to announce that Transistor will make its console debut on PlayStation 4. Welcome to the PlayStation family, Supergiant Games. We're excited to have you.
