Ruin for PS Vita Details Arrive: Lairs, Relics and The Social Web

250°
155w ago - Sony Senior Social Media Specialist Sid Shuman has revealed some details today on Ruin for PS Vita, including the lairs, relics and the social web as follows:

Ruin (working title) was last seen on the E3 2011 PlayStation stage, when the presenter wirelessly transferred his PS Vita game session to a PS3 without missing a frame of the action.

As technically impressive as Ruin's cross-platform compatibility is, I've learned that it's only the beginning of what co-developers Idol Minds and SCE San Diego Studios are planning for this ambitious multiplayer action-RPG.

Ruin is still early in development, but it's being eagerly anticipated for its PS Vita-to-PS3 cross-compatibility, addictive action-RPG gameplay, and expansive social features.

Ruin's developers are quietly building a wide, deep social network designed to keep you interacting whether you're on the couch, on the bus, or someplace in-between. Travis Williams, Ruin's energetic senior producer, walked me through the game's social ambitions several weeks ago at a media showing in New York City.

From the earliest days of Ruin's development process, Williams told me, the development team was motivated to find a way to make its multiplayer competitive mode accessible and socially sticky – important considerations...

156w ago - Recently Sony's Shuhei Yoshida confirmed that PlayStation Vita will be region-free, and over the weekend GameSpot (linked above) did an interview with him discussing PS Vita's US / EU launch slated for early next year.

Previously, we reported that PS Vita is scheduled to hit Japan on December 17, 2011.

To quote: "Currently, with the PlayStation 3 and PSP, physical media is released region-free, allowing games published in one country to be played without hassle in another.

However, Sony's digital strategy restricts content to the region in which it is released, with access being determined by the region of a user's PlayStation Network profile.

As announced earlier this week, the PS Vita will launch alongside 26 games in Japan on December 17. Sony expects to release its newest gaming hardware in Europe and North America sometime in early 2012."

Gravity Rush for PlayStation Vita: Everything You Need to Know

50°
156w ago - Today Associate Product Marketing Manager of Software Marketing Cristian Cardona has outlined everything fans need to know about the upcoming PlayStation Vita title Gravity Rush below!

To quote: Greetings! As you've seen lately, we've released some additional information here and there on Gravity Rush and I wanted to give you all a bit more info on this PS Vita exclusive.

First off, if you haven't already, meet Kat:

You'll be assuming the role of our cel-shaded heroine, who wakes in a strange city with no memory of how she got there. While exploring the town, she encounters a black cat (clever, huh?), who grants her the ability to control the gravity around her.

From there, the story unfolds across multiple chapters as Kat uses her newfound powers to not only help a city that's (literally) breaking apart, but to figure out the mystery of her past and what (or who) has brought her here. Using the PS Vita, you'll be able to release Kat from gravity's hold and shift her center of gravity to completely change her perspective and gain access to previously unseen areas of the stages you play in.

Whether "falling" towards the side of a tower or virtually any visible surface, Kat can be brought back to a floating state with a simple trigger pull, or...
