1000°
223w ago - Today garyopa at PSX-Scene has reported that Russian hacker GamerSuper has began a project for playing PSP games on Sony's PS3 entertainment system and shared a PoC video!

Below is the proof-of-concept video, and for those curious GamerSuper's own Web site is located [Register or Login to view links].

To quote from the video's caption: "Launching PSP game on PS3 - World's First Test

Here's a first video of launching PSP game on the PS3. It wasn't easy at all, I worked about a week without any breaks, a SDK which has recently leaked very helped me. I don't know why there was no in-game sound, seems I made some mistake when building a game last time.

There were some problems in controls (I mean some buttons were messed up, e.g. START became [], select didn't work at all), but I'm gonna fix it."

Project PS3P Announced, PSP Emulation on PS3 in Development

800°
224w ago - Today dimmudroid has announced news of what is currently being developed as Project PS3P on [Register or Login to view links], which aims to offer PSP game emulation on Sony's PS3 entertainment system!

To quote: "I'd like to announce a project i've been working on, PS3P. Basically it's the ability to load PSP games on PS3.

As you may know, the PS3 can play PSP Minis, which are installed just like any other package. And most PSP games have nearly identical structures and files as PS3 games.

Thus far I've been able to achieve a few steps in the right direction, but I'm not ready to share my work just yet. I've been working on this in my free time (aka outside of work and family) and it will be done when it's done.

If you'd like to know more, or keep on the up and up, feel free to find me on http://twitter.com/dimmudroid

I may need a few alpha testers soon, I'll post requirements and such later today."

224w ago - Update: Some pictures and a video (below) are now available of the NullDC Dreamcast emulator running on PS3 for those interested!

A few days ago we reported news that drk||Raziel is working on porting the Sega DreamCast emulator NullDC to Sony's PS3, and today he reports that the BiOS is operational and running!

Speaking to PSGroove, [Register or Login to view links] states, to quote: "Letsee .. oh wait, it cross compiled ! *yay* for uber portable code ;p Interpreter only / underclock 4x / no pvr rendering / no audio / no input. Bios intro runs fine, then gets on the clock dialog screen. YAY !"

Currently it is produced on a PS3 Debug unit due to its remote debugging, but the code will run on Retail PS3 consoles as well. Below is the log file for those curious, cool news indeed!

PS2PSXe Preview - Homebrew PS1 Emulator for PS2 is Released

500°
228w ago - While it's been awhile since we've reported on any PS2 news, today ffgriever has proved once again that the PlayStation 2 is not dead yet with his PS2PSXe Preview release - a homebrew PS1 Emulator for Sony's PS2 console!

According to the author, PS2PSXe should be able to run PS1 images from all devices (CD/DVD, HOST/LAN, HDD) on the PlayStation 2.

Download: PS2PSXe Preview

To quote: "Public PS2PSXe preview. Only command line version attached. Unfortunately I wasn't able to get current sources to work properly (I'm halfway with some major changes and it will take awhile to complete them). The one attached you can consider as "the last one that actually works", or simply rev168.

The emu supports both PAL and NTSC display, but I REALLY RECOMMEND leaving the default PAL output. Why? Well, it's the only mode I use. Many fixes were made to make PAL games show less glitches in PAL mode... When you switch the display to NTSC it most often will show more glitches.

The PAL scph7200 bios is recommended to run games. PAL games are recommended due to two simple reasons:

1. PAL games require...
