100°
6w ago - 505 Games Senior Brand Manager Richard Gittins announced that Terraria comes to PS4 this Tuesday, complete with a bigger world, new items and cross-play!

To quote: It's hugely exciting to be bringing the world of Terraria to PS4.

We didn't feel it was necessary to tinker with the core mechanics of the game, which have underpinned its success to date, but we've definitely been able to take this console version to the next level and implement some fantastic new features in the process - It looks amazing running in HD on PS4 too!

The first thing to talk about is the scale of the PS4 version, which is almost triple the size of the original PS3 game.

A truly huge amount of content and features have been added, with well over 1,000 new items including 10 new ores, 4 new wood types, 31 new brick types, 12 new wing types, 29 new tinker combinations, 50 new paintings, 8 new friendly NPCs, 15 new pets, over 100 new enemies, 4 new bosses ... the list goes on, and on!

We've also listened to feedback from the community and looked at how people play the original console games to figure out where slight improvements might be made.

We wanted to address the immense scale of Terraria's world, which can actually be a blessing and a curse! Now players will be able...

Video: 6 Moments from Far Cry 4's Open World on PlayStation 4

8w ago - Sony Social Media Specialist Ryan Clements shared a PS4 video today showcasing 6 moments from Far Cry 4's open world on PlayStation 4 below.

To quote: Let loose in Kyrat, I was immediately overwhelmed by the volume of play built into this open world space.

Developed by Ubisoft Montreal, [Register or Login to view links] invites players back into a first-person exploration of quiet villages, dangerous tyranny, and majestic views. It's packed with emergent missions that can hook players into gunfights and high-speed chases. It has laughs and bitter choices.

Far Cry 4 tells the story of Ajay Ghale, a native of Kyrat who has returned to its war-torn valleys to spread his mother's ashes. Ajay is pulled into the civil unrest plaguing the area thanks to the sociopathic despot Pagan Min and his violent regime.

I asked Game Director Pat Methe to share five of his favorite moments from Far Cry 4. Watch the video below and follow along. As a bonus, I sat down and played Far Cry 4 myself and picked out six things that caught my eye during a three-hour binge session.

1.) Emergent Missions

Video: Hellblade PS4 Dev Diary: Creating the World on PlayStation 4

10w ago - Ninja Theory Product Development ninja Dominic Matthews posted up a PS4 Development Diary video which covers creating the world on PlayStation 4.

To quote: Hello, Dominic Matthews here from Ninja Theory. I wanted to come back to PlayStation.Blog to share our latest development diary with you and to also give an update on how things are progressing with the creation of our new PS4 title Hellblade.

Back in August we announced Hellblade at PlayStation's Gamescom Press Conference, which at the time was just 4 months into development. By traditional standards, we were announcing the game incredibly early in development.

The reason for such an early announcement is that we want to share as much of Hellblade's development with you as we possibly can.

The standard approach is for games and their development to be hidden away, with details slowly drip fed to players very carefully and slowly over time. But we want to do the opposite. We announced early so that we could start sharing our development approach, creative exploration and decision making from the very beginning.

Since Gamescom we've been updating our site with regular development diary videos, blog posts, concept art and live streams. We've released three development diaries to date, focused on the announcement...

15w ago - Frogwares developer Olga Ryzhko shared a fresh video below today inviting PS4 and PS3 fans to trick the world in Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments.

To quote: Hi! This is Olga from Frogwares, and this week I'm excited to introduce you to a new Sherlock skill exclusive to Sherlock Holmes: Crimes & Punishments, with our new Subversion trailer.

Facing incompetence from the police - namely, Lestrade - Holmes needs to get... creative, when chasing lines of inquiry in Crimes & Punishments, coming September 30th to PS4 and PS3.

In this gameplay trailer, watch as Holmes earns the trust of a suspect by transforming himself, and his accent, into a sailor, to gain access to the information he desires.

At Baker Street, in Holmes' bedroom, a wardrobe holds the key to Holmes' disguises, as well as a dressing table housing wigs, hats, glasses, different hairstyles, and beards. Where the police draw a blank, it's up to you to take advantage of Holmes' transformative skills, to subvert the police and perpetrators.

Sony Details How the World Cup Influenced FIFA 15 on PS4

17w ago - Sony Content Producer Tom Wallis detailed how the World Cup influenced FIFA 15 on PS4 today for PlayStation 4 fans below.

To quote: "We picked the winner of the Brazil World Cup with our simulation."

It's a lofty claim to make, but one that Nick Channon, Senior Producer on [Register or Login to view links], doesn't make lightly.

"We do a simulation every year and we actually, before the tournament, picked Germany. I'm not sure too many people agreed with us. A lot of people were looking at Argentina or Brazil as the favorites."

When talking to Nick backstage at Gamescom this year, talk inevitably kept returning to this summer's footballing extravaganza over in Brazil and perhaps unsurprisingly, it becomes clear that the tournament had an impact on how the final game is turning out.

One area in particular - goalkeepers - came in for special attention as the tournament wound to its conclusion.

"It felt for a lot of the World Cup that the standout position was the goalkeeper," explains Nick.

"Tim Howard from the USA had the record for the most saves in a game. That was something we didn't see coming - just how the World Cup became a story of the...
