75w ago - Last week the previous Showtime PS3 Media Player plugins were updated, and today andreus has released a WebMedia plugin that supports reading RSS, Imagecast, Podcast, Videocast and live TV or radio streams followed by version 1.1.
Below are more details from ReadMe File, as follows: WebMedia plugin for Showtime is a free Internet source media reader. Can read RSS feeds, Imagecast, Podcast, Videocast, Live TV and Live Radio (rtmp).
I build this plugin for my own use because I wanted more than current Showtime plugins can give. The purpose of this plugin is to have the possibility to read free media sources available in the Internet.
I thanks Andreas Oman for this wonderful application that is Showtime and for all the plugin documentation. I also thanks facanferff and NP for their excellent plugins.
87w ago - Sony Senior Social Media Specialist Sid Shuman has revealed some details today on Ruin for PS Vita, including the lairs, relics and the social web as follows:
Ruin (working title) was last seen on the E3 2011 PlayStation stage, when the presenter wirelessly transferred his PS Vita game session to a PS3 without missing a frame of the action.
As technically impressive as Ruin's cross-platform compatibility is, I've learned that it's only the beginning of what co-developers Idol Minds and SCE San Diego Studios are planning for this ambitious multiplayer action-RPG.
Ruin is still early in development, but it's being eagerly anticipated for its PS Vita-to-PS3 cross-compatibility, addictive action-RPG gameplay, and expansive social features.
Ruin's developers are quietly building a wide, deep social network designed to keep you interacting whether you're on the couch, on the bus, or someplace in-between. Travis Williams, Ruin's energetic senior producer, walked me through the game's social ambitions several weeks ago at a media showing in New York City.
From the earliest days of Ruin's development process, Williams told me, the development team was motivated to find a way to make its multiplayer competitive mode accessible and socially sticky -- important considerations...
101w ago - Hey, this weekend I got together with a group of friends and we worked very hard to deliver some big changes and to expand our work.
First of all, we've revamped the website with many more features and support for 57 languages so everyone can enjoy our content, and find what they're looking for quicker.
Then we improved are website's stability, and made some changes with the download manager to take this into account, so if we go into maintenance mode the download manager doesn't stop working.
And after the website was finished, I thought 'Why is my code so messy, can I make it faster? smoother? and smaller? yet keep the functionality?' and yes, I did exactly that and reduced the amount of code by around 100KB and it's only limitation is your computer, the code is as optimized as possible.
Here are the changes in 3.92:
1) URL Detection is now 200ms faster per file
2) New File-Type Menu for those with limited technical ability
3) Huge Code optimizations reducing the code by around 100 KB
4) Stability fixes, and modification to the advertisement in attempt to improve closing speed after clicking skip.
5) Framework for our Android Application (For activation in the next build, I expect it will be 4.00)
6) Update Notification...
110w ago - Update: VGN365.com has now clarified that the ChromeClientPOSIX discovery was referring to the browser chrome not 'Google Chrome' the Web browser, and concludes that Google Chrome is not likely coming to the PS3 entertainment system after all.
According to Dutch site PS3Life.nl (linked above), Sony's PS3 entertainment system may soon be getting the popular Google Chrome Web browser despite Google responding that they have nothing to announce at this time.
Additionally, a job listing implies that Sony is indeed hiring a developer to work with Google Chrome's Engine.
To quote, roughly translated: Sony has a Webkit source for their PS3 Web browser and can be found here (with a test page now added here).
Here you can see several things that Sony has updated on March 31 for pilot testing. A forum user NeoGaf the forum was, incidentally, to the bored and a look in the ps3-webkit-support.diff...
