163w ago - Naughty Dog's Community Strategist Arne Meyer shared a recap of the Uncharted 2 Anniversary event that was held last weekend, and mentions some new PS3 DLC giveaways today.
To quote: Last weekend, we held our first Anniversary Event to celebrate one year since the release of UNCHARTED 2: Among Thieves, and I think we'd be understating things to say it was anything but a rousing success!
All of us at Naughty Dog wanted to thank everyone (again) who went online to participate in our Anniversary Event - getting the Anniversary Drake skin, along with mega-cash, in return - and made it such a special day for the Dogs to spend with our fan community.
We pulled a few amazing stats from the Anniversary Event we thought you'd like to know:
• We recorded over 2.5 man years of game time in a period of just 24 hours(1 game that lasts 20 minutes = 20 minutes, regardless of how many players in the game)
• Those 2.5 years came from 1,079,850 player games (10 players in a game = 10 player games)
• We also saw 12,376,755 kills during...
171w ago - VidZone's Head of Production Ben Creasey has revealed today that the exclusive Underworld - Always Loved A Film video is heading to Sony's PS3 entertainment system.
To quote: Do I need to introduce Underworld? I would like to think that I don't. They aren't just the ones that did that one that went "Lager lager lager shouting"; they are producers that have shaped the dance music scene for the last 25 years, albeit with a couple of breaks here and there.
So, we have the exclusive of their new video, Always Loved a Film, and I have to say the whole office is a fan of this video. Imagine footage of your local skate park attendees but with a twist; to find out the twist, well you can probably see from the screen grabs, but get yourself over to VidZone to check... it... out.
The track is from their new album, Barking, which is out on the 13th of September and is destined to be quite a smash with collaborations with everyone from Mark Knight to High Contrast.
194w ago - Today PR and Marketing Manager Andrej Dula of the Czech Republic and Slovakia has shared some pictures of Kratos on the road over European highways.
To quote: If, in the coming weeks, you see drivers with wide open eyes on the European highways, there are two likely explanations:
Either Europe was hit with (another!) severe snowstorm and spring is nowhere in sight, or they have just seen Kratos, the one and only God of War cruising on the road using his massive truck!
PlayStation Czech Republic and Slovakia is paying a tribute to this great franchise which is breaking review scores highs and sales records with an epic God of War III truck. Branded from both sides, it projects a 3D image of Kratos literally jumping out of the truck and into the traffic.
It would be a shame to keep it only to Czech Republic and Slovakia so through a cooperation with a Slovak truck company, the truck will be hitting the roads of mainland Europe until the end of summer, visiting also Austria, Netherlands, Croatia, Ukraine, Poland and Hungary so keep your eyes open for the one and only God of War!
196w ago - It appears Ubisoft's always-on PC DRM protection has been defeated in a day's time.
The new digital rights management system is incorporated into new Ubisoft PC titles including Silent Hunter 5: Battle of the Atlantic and Assassin's Creed 2.
To quote: "The new scheme UbiSoft hoped would thwart piracy requires all legitimate users to have a permanent Internet connection that continuously authenticates a copy of the game.
Ubisoft's master plan has collapsed in under 24-hours, as infamous cracker group Skid-Row has tackled the new DRM and rendered it useless, meaning the only people now suffering with this ridiculous DRM are legitimate owners."
From the Silent Hunter 5: Battle of the Atlantic NFO File instructions:
1. Unpack release
2. Mount image or burn it
4. Copy the content from the SKIDROW folder on the DVD to your installation directory and overwrite Û Û
5. Play the game
Additional Notes: Don't install/use Ubisoft launcher, or simply block any connection to internet. Install game and copy crack, it's that simple!
220w ago - Today SKFU has posted a brief guide on three way to run your own code on Sony's PS3 console, as follows:
The easiest way to run your own code on the PlayStation 3 is through Linux which you can install as alternative OS. Several restrictions regarding the RSX, but it seems to become better regarding 3D acceleration since the new MESA 3D GL was released with CELL support.
A few days ago I reported, that the developers of demonhades.org found out, that BD-Java still works if you correctly burn it on a Blu-Ray disc. With the FreePlay's minimal BD-Java SDK it's quite ok to develop Java for PS3.
Since FW 2.0 till FW 3.0 there was the so called Informationboard. This is a simple .swf file on the HDD and can be replaced with knightsolidus' HDD decryption method. As the informationboard.swf does not run in a sandbox there's a lot possible but sadly it was removed in the actual FW 3.0.
