New Tomb Raider: Underworld Sales Lead on PlayStation 3

50°
295w ago - Sales of Eidos' Tomb Raider: Underworld are strongest on the PlayStation 3, with 51 per cent of all units sold in its first week of release on Sony's home console.

The Xbox 360 accounted for 34 per cent of sales, with the remaining sales made up of Wii, PC and DS SKUs.

Earlier this year, Eidos announced that only the Xbox 360 version of the game will benefit from two exclusive digital episodes, amounting to around six extra hours of play.

Tomb Raider: Underworld only beat the first week performance of last year's Tomb Raider: Anniversary by 6,700 units.

296w ago - She's back. Today Eidos Interactive announced the first Tomb Raider game designed from the ground up for next generation gaming consoles has shipped to stores for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, Nintendo Wii and DS.

In Tomb Raider: Underworld, Lara travels around the world to explore and solve puzzles on a scale grander than any the series has presented before.

In addition, Eidos has confirmed purchasers of the Xbox 360 version will receive an exclusive treat this holiday season.

Available sometime next month only on Xbox 360 will be the first of two new chapters, Tomb Raider: Underworld - Beneath the Ashes. This chapter takes place after the Underworld story has finished and features a new environment to explore and additional secrets to unlock.

The second chapter, Tomb Raider: Underworld - Lara's Shadow, will follow in early 2009 and introduce a new currently unknown playable character.

Tomb Raider: Underworld on Xbox 360 and PS3 sells for $59.99. The Wii version clocks in at $39.99 and DS at $29.99. Finally, a video can be seen of it HERE. Enjoy!

Tomb Raider: Underworld for PS3 won't get DLC or a Demo

50°
302w ago - Remember the announcement that the XBox 360 will get exclusive downloadable content for Tomb Raider: Underworld?

Yeah, if you're a PS3 gamer, don't count on it being a timed exclusive. Eidos has confirmed that the DLC will not - repeat, not - appear on other consoles.

What's more, the demo planned to come out for the game this month is also an XBox 360 exclusive. Called it.

So first it was Grand Theft Auto IV, and then it was Fallout 3. Now it's Lara Croft.

What's with all this PlayStation 3 deprivation? Is Microsoft dishing out money again to get these DLCs, or are Bethesda and Eidos just not PS3 fans?
