50°
37w ago - Sony Product Manager Alex Moyet unveiled the Tearaway PlayStation Vita TV advert video premiere today with details below.

To quote: Just 10 DAYS to go until the launch of Tearaway on PS Vita - too much excitement! To help you while away the days why not take a little peek at the premiere of our official Tearaway TV ad.

The TV ad was filmed over two days in a studio in South Africa and includes a marvellous combination of CG, live action, puppet wizardry and - of course - papercraft! The set building team painstakingly crafted a stunning miniature paper set inspired by the world of Tearaway, including the snowy peaks of Gibbet Hill and the lush verdure of Valleyfold.

Have a look at some behind the scenes snaps:

With every tear, rip, fold and tab, a lot of love was put into the creating the set, from crafting a perilous ravine....

...to organising an entire production line just for trees!

And of course no Tearaway ad would be complete without a fearsome wendigo! Although this one needed a little bit of help standing up. Perhaps he was tired.

We hope you enjoy it - let us know what you think and don't forget there's still time to [Register or Login to view links]...

Video: New Tearaway PS Vita Story Trailer Debuted, New Details

39w ago - Sony Community Manager James Spafford shared a new Tearaway PS Vita story trailer and details today on the upcoming PlayStation Vita title below!

To quote: The PlayStation.Blog team came to visit us at Mm towers recently to make a series of videos about our studio, and our latest game, Tearaway. This is the first video, which features Rex, Kenny (And me!) talking about Tearaway's world, story, and music.

What we don't talk about in the video enough are these guys, iota and atoi, the messengers. Tearaway differs from other games, in that you play alongside the main character, not as them.

You first meet iota or atoi at the start of our journey, when a strange message is sent to you from a papery dimension. Before you can read it, it falls back down into the papery world it came from, and comes to life.

Some villainous Scraps immediately try to stir up some trouble, but you sweep in and save the day using your giant fleshy fingers to squash them.

Glancing skywards at your face peeping through a hole in the sun, your messenger sees it was you that saved them, and from this moment forth the bond between you both will grow stronger and stronger.

Hope you enjoy this video, look...

Tearaway's Papery Challenges and PS Vita Character Customization

50°
41w ago - Sony Community Manager James Spafford outlined some of Tearaway's papery challenges and PS Vita character customization for fans below today.

To quote: Even though Tearaway is a single-player game - a personal journey shared by you, and your little messenger friend, iota or atoi - we couldn't resist giving Tearaway players the chance to express themselves creatively.

We've already talked at length about the oodles of papercraft models you can collect as you play through the game, but there are also in-game challenges that will allow you to personalize the world as you travel through it.

A squirrel who needs a new crown, a chap whose moustache has been stolen by crows, and a pig that's too ugly... these are all examples of problems you'll be asked to solve through the cutting out of virtual paper shapes.

When the time comes to get crafty, you'll be presented with a virtual cutting mat, and a selection of colored paper sheets. Using the pencil tool, you can trace a shape that you want to cut out using the front touch. If you make a mistake, you can erase your flawed pencil lines with the eraser tool, but once you're happy with the shape, hit the scissors icon to cut it out.

You can layer multiple sheets on top of one another, just like using real paper, and once...

Tearaway: Building Your Own Papercraft World on PlayStation Vita

50°
46w ago - Sony Community Manager James Spafford shared details today on building your own papercraft world in Tearaway on PlayStation Vita.

To quote: Tearaway is a game set in a papery world, which means that if you wanted to, you could craft the entire game from paper in the real world - and that's exactly what we hope people will do!

To help you along your way, we've filled the game will collectible papercraft plans, which you can unlock as you journey through the world.

As you play, you'll come across creatures, plants or objects that appear to be drained of their colour. Taking a picture of them with your character's in-game camera restores their colour, and unlocks their plan.

Each plan has various different skins - blank ones, or colorful ones, so you can either make something that looks like it does in the game, or customise them to look completely different and unique to you.

The plans will be accessed on our community website, where you'll find everything you've unlocked so far, and from here you'll be able to print them out, make them, and fill your house with papercraft!

The journey doesn't end there though. Once you've made your papercraft model, you can upload a picture of your creation to the website to share it with the...
