Hands on with The Last of Us on PlayStation 3: Whatever It Takes

50°
62w ago - Sony Social Media Manager Sid Shuman went hands on today with The Last of Us on the PlayStation 3 entertainment system.

Below are the details, to quote: I'm low on ammo, so I clumsily swing my two-by-four at the incoming Clicker - dumb move. The creature sinks its fetid teeth into my jugular, chirping with malevolent glee as it rips out a gobbet of flesh. Arterial blood spurts across my face, now contorted in shock and agony.

I'm dead. This time, I try a different approach. I combine one of my remaining rags and a precious bottle of alcohol to create a Molotov cocktail, then hurl it towards the abomination. Flames envelop the lumbering shape as it wails and collapses, dead at last. I'm alive - for a little while longer.

The Last of Us isn't afraid to kill you, over and over if need be. And that's a big part of its considerable charm. As you struggle to survive the game's inhospitable world, limping from one nail-biting combat scenario to the next, you'll feel strangely alive and alert.

In an era of game development that - at least to this old-timer - tends to babysit players with tutorials and handholding to dial down any chance of frustration, this game's unapologetically tough-as-nails approach feels both refreshing and quietly revolutionary. Remember when games used...

66w ago - BitComposer Games PR Manager Daniel Kraub shared a video today announcing that Air Conflicts: Vietnam takes flight on PS3 later this year.

Below are the details, to quote: I'd like to introduce you to Air Conflicts: Vietnam - the latest addition to our Air Conflicts line, due for release in the third quarter of 2013 for PlayStation 3.

Breaking away from the World War theme, our upcoming game turns to Vietnam where we feel there is huge potential for a whole new air combat experience.

Vietnam brings a new perspective and fresh impetus to the series, introducing legendary jet planes such as the F-4 Phantom and the infamous B-52, along with the thrill of supersonic dog-fighting, heat-seeking missiles, carpet bombing, and laser-guided munitions.

In addition to the new supersonic flight capability, we resurrect the iconic helicopters of the era - the immortal UH-1 Huey, the brutal AH-1 Cobra, and even the steadfast CH-47 Chinook and CH-53 Sea Stallion for transport and rescue operations.

Air Conflicts: Vietnam is unparalleled by any other flight game on the market, offering a strikingly diverse range of mission objectives, entirely new easy-to-handle control mechanics designed for supersonic aircraft and helicopters, and breathtaking visuals to immerse the...

77w ago - Trion Worlds Director of Community Elizabeth Tobey has posted up a video trailer today confirming that Defiance will be taking a stand on PlayStation 3 on April 2nd, 2013.

To quote: Defiance, the upcoming massive online third person shooter in development at Trion Worlds, will be available on PlayStation 3 Tuesday, April 2nd.

In a mere matter of weeks, you and your friends will brave the wilds of the San Francisco Bay Area, hunting down precious arktech, taking down mutants and alien monsters, and battling with and against hundreds of other players.

Not only will Defiance be available worldwide on April 2nd for gamers everywhere, our sister show on Syfy will launch the same month.

Set in St. Louis, the series will chronicle the lives of humans and aliens in St. Louis. Since the show and game take place at the same time, both show and game will overlap the weeks pass. Defiance premieres Monday, April 15th at 9:00pm / 8:00pm Central.

Earth isn't a safe place anymore. After the terraforming and wars that followed the arrival of the alien Votans, it became a dangerous place, barely recognizable as the Earth we once knew. As an Ark Hunter, you'll have a special set of skills to give you a...

Comcept: Soul Sacrifice for PS Vita Takes Tokyo Game Show

100°
96w ago - Comcept Founder Keiji Inafune has announced today that Soul Sacrifice for PS Vita is taking the Tokyo Game Show this year!

To quote: I'm excited that those of you who are attending Tokyo Game Show will finally be able to have some hands-on experience with Soul Sacrifice!

Once you play the game, I'm sure that you'll have a better sense of the world I've been wanting to create.

You'll be able to face the dilemmas, tough decisions, and the agony of choice that I've been wanting to portray in a game. I believe the TGS demo does a great job of conveying this new concept.

In the trailers and interviews released so far, we've shown the game's dark world setting and shared some of the story elements revealed in the single player mode.

We've also shared a few of the back stories from both the monsters and sorcerers that you'll encounter during gameplay. During TGS, I'm looking forward to showing you what the multiplayer mode can offer.

"Truly cooperate with allies" - I've explained the concept behind the multiplayer mode in the past, but I'm sure you'll gain a full understanding after playing through this TGS demo. You will experience trusting in your friends, being double-crossed or double crossing, and you will realize...

Video: Tall Unlimited Takes You to a Higher Tower This Week

100°
96w ago - MonkeyPaw Games Marketing Manager Ray Almeda has shared a video today announcing that Tall Unlimited will be taking fans to a higher tower this week!

Below are the details, to quote: There is a lot going on here at is a puzzle game that allows your "inner builder" to create a tower of historical proportions.

But you'll need to race time and sweat to do so. The idea is to move blocks and multiply their numbers by creating formations. The concept is simple but it's a devilishly tricky endeavor.

The object of Tall Unlimited is to build your towers as fast as you can, as high as you can. The game is a progressive challenge through eight stages where you have to complete 10 levels in each stage. The gameplay is fast and furious but the complexity is intuitive and the feel is responsive.

So the game comes off refreshingly fun and original. Its addictive action and minimal frustration blends with a creative building element that pulls you in. Like potato chips, once you start you won't want to stop!

MonkeyPaw will continue to bring you closer to your Japanese gaming roots. We want to deliver all those lost classics from a far-away land that you never thought you'd get your trigger finger on. We hope you'll continue to browse our catalog and pick up...
