Sony Goes Hands-on with Street Fighter X Tekken for PS Vita

100°
100w ago - Sony Social Media Manager Sid Shuman has gone hands-on today with Street Fighter X Tekken for the PS Vita handheld console.

To quote: I recently spent some hands-on time with a near-complete version of Street Fighter X Tekken for PS Vita, ahead of its October 23rd PSN and retail launch.

And I've gotta say, it's the spitting image of its PS3 bigger brother with big, bold characters and detailed backgrounds running at PS Vita's native screen resolution. But peer underneath those pretty graphics and you'll find a wealth of new extras that make this the definitive version of Capcom's crossover fighter.

The game comes equipped with every DLC fighter from the PS3 version - including PlayStation exclusives Cole McGrath, Kuro, Toro, Mega Man and Pac-Man, of course - as well as alternate costumes for every character in the base roster.

Another nice touch is the ability to customize your character's costume color, then share it with friends via PS Vita's integrated geo-social app "near." It's also worth noting that any DLC costumes or Gems you purchased for the PS3 version will port over to the PS Vita version at no extra cost.

PS Vita's front touchscreen is leveraged in several ways, most notably to create virtual buttons on the screen that you can reposition, resize,...

Street Fighter 25th Anniversary Collector's Set, Extra PS3 Content

300°
104w ago - Capcom Product Manager Andrew Schnorr has announced today that the Street Fighter 25th Anniversary Collector's will include tons of extra content on PS3!

Below are the details, to quote: Back on August 30, 1987, Capcom released Street Fighter in arcades, which seemed relatively innocuous until you gave it a second look.

The graphics were average for the time, the voice acting was quite muffled, and the controls were strict and unforgiving. You could normally only choose a single character - a redheaded, red-shoed martial artist named Ryu - unless a second player came on, in which case they could play a blonde clone named Ken.

Most people who play it would agree that it's not the best game in the series, but there were people who saw its potential, and decided to continue the franchise with Street Fighter II. With that, one of the video games' biggest icons stepped into the spotlight.

Over the past 25 years, Street Fighter has worked itself up from humble beginnings in the arcade to being a cultural phenomenon throughout the world. Millions of people interact with it every day, in a myriad of ways.

In all truth, the fans define the franchise as much as the games. And it was these people who inspired the creation of the Street Fighter 25th Anniversary Collector's...

To quote: Attention Street Fighter X Tekken fans and PlayStation 3 gamers!

As previously announced, Mega Man and Pac-Man will be joining Cole from Infamous (as well as Toro and Kuro) as PlayStation 3 exclusive characters in Capcom's upcoming Street Fighter X Tekken game.

Playable characters Cole, Toro and Kuro are included on the disc and will be available to play when the game launches in North America tomorrow, March 6th.

Video: Pac-Man and Mega Man Join Street Fighter X Tekken

500°
137w ago - Today Capcom Group Brand Manager Grant Luke has announced alongside a video trailer that Pac-Man and Mega Man are joining Street Fighter X Tekken's PlayStation exclusives.

To quote: Street Fighter X Tekken's roster is already bursting with fan favorites from both sides, and today we can add two more iconic characters to the list - and in this case, they're exclusive to PS3 and PS Vita players...

Two iconic mascots, Pac-Man and Mega Man, join the fray with existing PlayStation exclusives Cole, Kuro and Toro.

However, both mascots arrive in altered forms to create battles unique to Street Fighter X Tekken; Pac-Man rides Tekken's Mokujin, while Mega Man references the "classic" bad box art from the original US Mega Man.

Street Fighter X Tekken for the PS3 launches March 6, with the PS Vita to follow!
