100°
279w ago - Despite initial thoughts that the PSP-2000 TIFF Exploit wouldn't work on a PSP-3000 console, today RomStampedu has made both a video and detailed guide demonstrating that it does.

To quote: I'm using my Japanese Radiant Red PSP-3000 and it seems that the exploit worked.

New PSP Exploit Found in GripShift, Works on PSP-3000!

50°
293w ago - The latest spark of hope for psp-3000 users!! Great job MaTiAz for the find and +1 to Freeplay for getting it to work on the newest PSP revision!!! From the original article:

Now this is how you start a new year! New exploit, old game! Damn, it's so cool to actually see this beauty working - and on a PSP-3000 no less! The PSP scene was buzzing the other day when MaTiAz found an exploit (read: buffer overflow!) in the three year old game, GripShift.

We'll leave the technical bits for later. Now, we'll have this video from FreePlay do the talking:

Now then, the details: MaTiAz says that they've yet to find any further use for this, but it's still a new exploit. It could lead to further hacks, and for now, it's merely a proof of concept. Be that as it may, this is a great start, and a rather sweet find! Here's MaTiAz explaining the exploit:

GripShift has a buffer overflow vulnerability when loading savegames. The savegame contains the profile name which can be easily used to overwrite $ra. The savegame file is...

PSP PSARDumper With PSP-3000 Module Decryption Released

50°
300w ago - PSP hacker Dark_AleX has released PSARDumper with PSP-3000 Module Decryption today. This updates allows to decrypt 5.00,01 modules of the PSP-3000.

Download: PSARDumper With PSP-3000 Module Decryption / PSARDumper With PSP-3000 Module Decryption [Mirror]

To quote: Firstly, to avoid misunderstanding: This program is NOT for psp 3000. It is for psp1000/2000, but it allows the decryption of psp 3000 prx's for researching purposes.

Modules specifically of psp 3000 usually end with 03g. From the files, it seems that umdcache is handled differently in psp 3000, and that psp 3000 comes with a new wireless chip.

P.D: better looked now, it seems that wlanfirm_02g and wlanfirm_03g prx are equal. Same happens with umdcache_02g.prx and 03g. It seems that Sony enjoys making redundant data to make update eboots bigger.
