Video: Crysis Assaults PSN Today with 3D Support, Launch Trailer

133w ago - Crytek UK Senior Designer Alex Hood has shared some new PS3 video trailer footage below of Crysis, which assaults PSN today with 3D support!

To quote: It is very exciting for me to be able to say that the original Crysis is coming to the PS3! Some of you may be wondering how we are going to bring the large open environments that Crysis is known for to console.

The expansive jungle sections, the pure white sand beaches, the open vehicle levels... maybe you're shaking your head that it cannot be done. I'm here to tell you that we've accomplished this and you will be able to experience the remastered, single-player campaign for Crysis on October 4th in North America and October 5th in Europe.

So how did we do it? As Egg Shen said, it wasn't easy! Without the power of the CryENGINE 3, we would never have attempted it, but with fully deferred lighting, a PS3-specific rendering pipeline and SPU-enhanced physics code, together with more efficient memory layouts and more intelligent algorithms, we brought the experience of Crysis to consoles without compromise.

With that said, we didn't just want to port the game straight onto console; we wanted to make sure we tailored the experience to suit it. We've brought the Crysis 2 Nanosuit...

SOE Confirms PayDay: The Heist to Launch on PSN This Month

100°
133w ago - Sony Online Entertainment (SOE) Executive Director of Business Development Chris Sturr has confirmed today that Payday: The Heist is set to launch later this month on PSN.

To quote: Word on the street is that to pull off the biggest score, a heist must be planned and outlined to the very last detail with perfect team members, unbeatable weapons and unrecognizable disguises.

That being said, SOE & OVERKILL Software need a little more time to assemble the ideal squad and attack strategy for our highly anticipated adrenaline-pumping first person shooter, PAYDAY: The Heist.

With this in mind, SOE and the talented OVERKILL team have decided to push PAYDAY's official launch day to later in October, ensuring the overall game quality and potential score for all heist team members.

Not a PAYDAY crew member yet and hoping to get in on the loot? SOE has extended PRE-ORDERS - which have been excellent to date - to gather an even larger body of potential crew to co-operate with at launch!

For our established crew members, PAYDAY will still be awarded to those who purchased all four PSN titles in our inaugural PlayStation Network PLAY event, according to the terms of that program.

Your continued loyalty and...

Video: Closure at Fantastic Fest 2011: New Visuals for PSN Launch

100°
134w ago - Sony Senior Social Media Manager Jeff Rubenstein has shared some new video footage today from Fantastic Fest 2011 showcasing Closure's new challenges and visuals for its PSN launch below.

To quote: "If a tree falls in a forest and no one is around to hear it, does it make a sound?" The world of Closure, an upcoming PSN exclusive, pushes this philosophical question to the limit. If you don't see that tree, not only doesn't it make a sound - it doesn't even exist.

As Austin's Fantastic Fest kicked off last night, PlayStation hosted an indie arcade filled with games coming exclusively to PSN. You might be familiar with most of the titles on display, as we've talked quite a bit on the Blog about Journey, Retro/Grade, and Okabu. As the developers were setting up their stations, I was immediately drawn to a title that we only just introduced you to: Closure.

Closure is being developed by just two full-timers: Lead Designer and Programmer Tyler Glaiel and Artist John Schubbe. Glaiel guided me through the early parts of the game, and answered a few questions for PlayStation.Blog readers.

PlayStation.Blog: After announcing the game here on the PlayStation Blog, you demoed the game at PAX....

Video: Payday, Rochard and Sideway: New York PSN Launch Dates

50°
139w ago - Sony Online Entertainment Executive Director of Business Development Chris Sturr has shared launch dates today for PAYDAY: The Heist, Rochard, and Sideway: New York.

To quote: Sony Online Entertainment kicked off the first day with three of our newest PSN titles - Rochard, PAYDAY: The Heist and Sideway: New York. These latest games will engage you in graffiti adventures, environmental puzzlers and high intensity bank robberies, and will launch early this fall on the PlayStation Network via digital download.

Rochard puts you in the shoes of astro-miner John Rochard as he uses his wits and everyday mining tools to fend off space pirates. You must save his team of missing miners and solve the mystery behind the discovery of an ancient alien artifact.

The tools and crazy space gravity make for awesome puzzles, but it's Rochard's snarky sense of humor that really drew us to this game. Rochard will be available September 27th for download on PSN for $9.99.

PAYDAY: The Heist throws you straight into the action with high-stake heists, including bank robberies, prisoner extractions and armored car hijackings, you are forced to work as a team to control incredibly intense situations. This is a great game to play with a...
