"We are currently investigating, including the possibility of targeted behavior of an outside party. If this is indeed caused by such an act, we want to once again thank our customers who have borne the brunt of the attack through interrupted service. Our engineers are working to restore and maintain the services, and we appreciate our customers' continued support."

Shortly following, PlayStationLifeStyle.net reported that Sony has enlisted a DDoS Defense Firm to combat the hackers.

Today Wired reports that an anonymous hacking group originating from the 4Chan board has has officially declared war on Sony for alleged abuse, victimisation and privacy violations in the legal action against a group of PS3 hackers.

Sony's Sr. Director of Corporate Communications & Social Media Patrick Seybold has confirmed that PSN has been experiencing intermittent service...[/U]

113w ago - Update: Some more legal doc updates have now surfaced, which include GeoHot's laywers response refuting Sony's claims (via Groklaw) that the "blickmaniac" PSN account belongs to him.

ArsTechnica is also reproting that GeoHot's PS3 SCEJ manuals remained sealed, that he couldn't have known of SCEA to set up a PSN account and that the PlayStation 3 serial numbers don't match.

Today many sites are reporting that Sony has allegedly found George Hotz's PSN account under the nickname of blickmanic which would subject him to their TOS, that the PS3 hacker is currently fleeing or vacationing in South America, and finally that GeoHot may have intentionally removed integral components of his impounded hard drives prior to delivery.

115w ago - A few weeks back we reported that Sony was hiring IP investigators as part of forming a PS3 anti-piracy program, and today Dutch site PSX-Sense (linked above) reports that they may also be recruiting PlayStation 3 hackers as well.

According to rumor, Sarah McRae contacted Koushik Dutta regarding a Software Engineer position that is opening at SCEA.

To quote, roughly translated: Something we wouldn't expect from Sony; they are recruiting hackers for a job at SCEA. A hacker named Koush got an e-mail, which is 100% real, from Sarah McRae which works onsite at the Talent Acquisition department.

He had been asked for a job at the R&D Departmen at Sony, we're sure Koushik isn't the only hacker which has been contacted by Sony. As a proof Koush posted a screenshot of the e-mail.

116w ago - Today squarepusher2 has updated the MC68000 / Z80 Arcade Emulator to FBANext PS3 r424, which includes many changes as outlined below.

117w ago - Shortly following Sony's raid on his house, Dukio have now confirmed while posting a legal notice that Sony is suing Alexander Egorenkov known in the PS3 scene as Graf Chokolo for 1 million Euros and he states that he still wants to continue hacking the PlayStation 3 console with VGHQ.net reporting he has received over $28k in donations already!

To quote: I received a legal notice from SCEE lawyers requesting me to remove the coolstuff links that graf_chokolo has distributed on grafchokolo.com as well as the links at this blog. What i found interesting in the legal notice is that the lawyers are suing graf_chokolo for 1 million euros. That is quite a number, but graf_chokolo doesn't seem to care.

He still want to hack the PS3, where he said he cannot sleep knowing that he cannot touch the hypervisor of the PS3. Man, i never see someone like graf, he is an extraordinary genius hacker that Sony wasting it by making a...
