117w ago - Today Spanish PlayStation 3 developer S0uL of DemonHades has shared details on discovering the PS3 Firmware 3.6+ Keys, which comes a few days after Sony PS3 hacker Mathieulhleaked the 3.6 X-Platform-Passphrase stating that the PSN passphrase changed in version 3.70.
To quote, roughly translated: Hello demons,
Well, this is a tutorial for discovering the keys of 3.6 + made by S0uL and DemonHades (thanks for the info and review Demon) for all guys who think it is easy to discover the keys.
Recently he has been working on some PS3 QA Flag developments, and below those interested can find both the PS3 IDA Tutorial and NPDRM details.
From his page: PS3 + IDA Tutorial
Extract the contents into your IDA folder. I don't take credit for these plugins and loaders.
Loading a File
There are two file types I'll teach you to load. SPU and ELF files.
SPU files can only loaded in IDA 32bit mode. When you load IDA choose "Go" and drag the file onto IDA. Make sure elf is highlighted at the top. In processor type, choose "IBM SPU Cell Processor: spu." Click set. Click OK. "Undefined or unknown...blabla" yes. You should be good...
139w ago - Update: PS3 hacker Graf Chokolo's house has now been raided a second time according to court documents and a post on his blog which states, to quote: "SONY was at my home today again, with a new TRO against me. They took my whole equipment again and told me to stop my OtherOS project or else . , guys.
They definitely do not want OtherOS back on PS3. They want me to take down all my OtherOS and PS3 utils. Make sure to clone all my GIT repositories. I don't think you want me to stop, guys, do you ? Tell me what you think.
To give up would mean for me to betray my principles guys, so, the next question is what is more worth to me, my life or my principles. Keep my principles and destroy my life or to trample on my principles and save my life ? Most of you know only my work and don't really know my personality, the guy who stands behind graf_chokolo. I'm proud how my parents brought me up, they tought to me to fight for my principles and what is right. To be a man of principles is not an easy task."
