190w ago - Today PS3 hacker Mathieulh reports finding a PlayStation 3 Firmware 3.56 exploit, although he states he has no plans to give any further details about it.

To quote from PSX-Scene (linked above): Well-known hacker Mathieu Hervais has reportedly found a bug that allows exploiting metldr, the bootloader and firmware version 3.56. Unfortunately, he refuses to release it.

So much for "unhackable" PS3s though... I am not giving any further details about it. Sorry.

Actually the revocation list exploit doesn't allow you to exploit isoldr, you could however sign a revoke list if you had the revocation list keys and knew the sign fail, and use that to dump isoldr. Metldr does not load revocation lists.

This has been tested, how do you think I could release the lv2ldr and appldr keys ? (about 24hrs before Geohot showed up with metldr keys) This has been tested, how do you think I could release the lv2ldr and appldr keys ? (about 24hrs before Geohot showed up with metldr keys)

Today Graf_Chokolo announced that he has successfully exploited the PS3 hypervisor 3.15 through GameOS and dumped it, and plans to do the same for version 3.41 along with sharing more details soon.

Here is what he had to say on the matter, to quote: "I have just exploited and dumped HV 3.15 from GameOS

I used memory glitching like Geohot to get dangling HTAB entry but 2nd and 3rd stages are quite different. I used my knowledge about HV internals and created a simpler exploit for stage2 and stage3.

I didn’t use second VAS like Geohot. I used lv1_undocumented_function_114 and lv1_undocumented_function_115...

Video: PlayStation Move Demo Disc Exploit via PS3 JailBreak

700°
204w ago - Today HKKory has shared a video of what he calls a PlayStation Move demo disc exploit via PS3 JailBreak, however, as PSGroove points out the console is already JailBroken so this isn't really an exploit and won't likely lead to anything.

To quote: "The PS3 homebrew news has seemed to slow down, a lot. So I thought I would start making some news. I noticed the demo disc that came with my move, runs off the XMB, and installs demos.

I pondered if the same method could be used for homebrew, or whatever. I backed it up with my manager, and looked in the files. I realized the installs were DATA000.PKG so I renamed a emulator to that, copied it over to move folder, and installed it.

Now I'm not a coder, so I would like to turn this news over to anyone that could make some use of it to further our efforts. But please, remember to credit me, if you work further upon this discovery.

Here are the details:

• Back up Move Demo Disc (10GB)
• Select Install Disc
• Make sure a Disc is in the Drive
• Open Your File Manager
• Open Dev0HD
• Go to folder with rips
• Navigate to BCUS-98263
• PS3_EXTRA
• D001 - D012 have the pkg files.
• Rename desired .pkg to DATA000.PKG (USE CAPITALS ON THE .PKG)
