93w ago - Today JohnAaron has leaked the Sony PS3 SDK GCC Cell OS LV2 Toolchain sources on IRC, which PlayStation 3 developers can use to aid in the ongoing creation of an open-source PS3 Software Development Kit.
To quote: Previously, coders could not make their own versions of GCC with the PS3 SDK. However, that setback no longer stands in the way with the release of these files.
In addition, dev's can now port later versions of GCC to the SDK, as well as make their own toolchain. Once again, it's stressed that if you're not a developer this won't be of any use to you, but this will come in handy for developers.
[01:35] [JohnAaron] anybody into GCC?
[01:36] [JohnAaron] cause I just found something interesting

93w ago - Ubisoft International Product Manager Akshay Paul has announced that Splinter Cell HD Trilogy on PS3 sneaks into PlayStation Store tomorrow.
To quote: It's nice to be able to sit and talk to you all after months of work. As you may have heard, tomorrow we are releasing a trilogy compilation of our very first Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell games on the PlayStation Store.
It includes Splinter Cell, Splinter Cell Pandora Tomorrow and Splinter Cell Chaos Theory, and you will also be able to buy it on Blu-ray Disc at a later date.
As well as being able to buy all three games as a bundle, you can also purchase them separately as single games. The bundle costs €29.99/£23.99 and each individual title is €9.99/£7.99.
Each and every one of them has been highly acclaimed, each exceeding a 90% metacritic rating and bringing the stealth action genre to new heights. I am sure many of you are thrilled at the idea of embodying the cold and calculating Sam Fisher again.
You'll be able to relive this epic series in high definition with enhanced graphics fully remastered in 1080p HD. To top it off, owners of 3DTVs will be able to experience Sam Fisher's adventures in stereoscopic 3D.
94w ago - Today PlayStation 3 developer Jon Rocatis has Tweeted news of a Spusim clone called Sputnik Cell / SPU Pipeline Viewer, which is useful for those into low-level SPU analysis and optimization of PS3 object and ELF files.
To quote: Sputnik is a Cell/SPU Pipeline viewer. According to Wikipedia Sputnik means “co-traveler” or “traveling companion” and I hope Sputnik will be accompanying you on your future SPU coding adventures!
It’s somewhat of a clone of IBM’s spusim tool. That tool has some things that annoys me and is lacking some features that I would like, so I ended up writing my own!
First of all spusim locks the files you have loaded which is annoying – also it has no recent-files or anything like that. Sputnik has that and will even auto-load the most recently opened file at startup and go to the function you looked at last. Sputnik is able to load both object files and ELF-files.
