66w ago - Here is my first PS3 4.10 CFW (Custom Firmware) / MFW (Modified Firmware) which includes the Install Package Files option in the PlayStation 3 XMB for those interested.

For those curious, this PS3 CFW / MFW is a modified 4.10 Kiosk / Shop Firmware via PS3MFW Builder intended for installation on PS3 3.55 Retail consoles.

Changes:

1. Custom Coldboot
2. Kiosk/Shop XMB restrictions have been removed so PlayStation Home/PlayStation Store work fine.
3. Modified to allow installation of retail signed packages

Notes: DO NOT install this unless you have an E3 flasher or Progskeet type device to downgrade your PS3 to 3.55. Unfortunately 3.55 signed PS3 homebrew does not install/run. Also be aware it doesn't load any PlayStation 3 game backups so you will need to have the game disc to play them.

68w ago - Following my previous release, today I have returned with another update for my PS3 4.00 HFW (Hybrid Firmware) to version 2.5 with details below.

I'm not going to make you re-download another 180MB PUP file, Instead I've decided to release a patch which has all the tools required to patch my Version 2 pup to be Version 2.5 (although when the link for the version 2 pup gets taken down I'll release a version 2.5 pup). Patch Instructions:

How to install the 3.2 Update Patch for my 4.00HFW:

1/ Install PS3MFW Builder v0.2.1

2/ Copy the 'change_xml_files.tcl' file to the 'task' folder of PS3MFW Builder

4/ Put my "modded FW 4.00(releasev2).PUP" as the "Original fw" and whatever you want as the "Modified fw"

3/ Uncheck every thing except "PS3HEN's 4.00HFW Patch 1"

80w ago - Just over a month ago we reported on PlayStation (PSX / PSOne) Games working on PS3 3.55 CFW, and today PlayStation 3 developer CrashSerious has released a homebrew application called One which allows users to run PSX game discs on PS3 3.55 or 3.41 MFW Modified Firmware.

The initial version 0.1 is also followed by an update (above) that also supports gamesaves.

83w ago - Following up on the initial PS3 JailBreak 2 news comes various PS3 CFW JailBreak 2 and JB2 Updater details today including the examination of an EBOOT.BIN from the Driver: San Francisco Blu-ray Disc in comparison to one from an official PS3 Game (BLES00891) Disc with developments on reverse-engineering the PS3 JB2 file dumps and more below.

To begin, whyudie states the following on the PS3 CFW JailBreak 2 and JB2 Updater for PlayStation 3: I just wanted to share this CFW. This CFW is intended more specifically for Jailbreak 2 dongle only. Most likely will not run well without that dongle. Perhaps some developers out there could investigate this CFW, and develop it even better.

If anyone out there want to install this CFW on your PS3. Do it at your own risk!!

JailBreak 2 Dongle Features

• Can play backup games that require firmware 3.60 + (Direct boot just like the original games)
  
• Only burned BD Disc format with some patches will work. For now, there's no info how to make a backup iso to work with this CFW.
  
• Can play backup games from the HDD. PS3 games with FW 3.55 or lower (via internal or external hdd)
  
• Only works...
