Cosmic Star Heroine Coming to PS4, VVVVVV is Hitting PS Vita

64w ago - Today Zeboyd Games Lead Designer Robert Boyd announced that Retro Sci-fi RPG Cosmic Star Heroine is coming to PS4 and PS Vita alongside VVVVVV to PlayStation Vita as well.

To quote: We here at the two-man development studio known as Zeboyd Games are pleased to announce that our next RPG, Cosmic Star Heroine, will be coming out on PS4 and PS Vita next year! And to go along with that announcement, here's our Sega-CD inspired opening video for our game! Enjoy!

A very special thanks to Dean Dodrill (Dust: An Elysian Tail) who helped out with effects and animation, as well as Chris Geehan and Dan Byrne-McCullough over at Hyperduck (who did the music for our last RPG) for helping make that video go to 11! And of course, our own Bill Stiernberg, who handled the brunt of the work!

Cosmic Star Heroine is our latest attempt to recapture the feel of some of the classic RPGs of the 90s, while putting our own unique spin on the whole experience. Inspired by games like Chrono Trigger (visual style, on-map battles, combo techniques), the Phantasy Star series (overall feel of the worlds and characters), and the Suikoden series (political intrigue, expandable player headquarters), we can't wait to share Cosmic Star Heroine with you!

Spry Fox: Road Not Taken is Coming to PS4 and PS Vita in 2014

64w ago - Spry Fox CEO David Edery announced today that roguelike puzzle game Road Not Taken is coming to PS4 and PS Vita in 2014 alongside a video trailer below.

To quote: Hi folks! It's an honor to be posting here for the first time. I'm the co-founder of a studio called Spry Fox.

We've made some well-known mobile and PC games such as Steambirds, Triple Town, and Realm of the Mad God. I'm super excited to announce that our next title - an original puzzle game called Road Not Taken - will be launching on PS4 and PS Vita in early 2014!

Road Not Taken is a game about life's surprises, both positive and negative. In our take on Robert Frost's poem of the same name, you wander through a mysterious forest in the aftermath of a large snowstorm.

As you explore, you'll come across wild animals, impassable barriers, and lost children. Road Not Taken explores the question: "What happens when life's events throw you off the path you expected to take?" It's been a lot of fun for us to try and stretch the ideas that games can tackle!

In terms of gameplay, you can think of Road Not Taken as a puzzle roguelike.

You can play for dozens of hours, and no two sessions will ever be quite alike.
Each game is full of unexpected surprises and dangers,...

Revolution Software: Broken Sword: The Serpent's Curse on PS Vita

66w ago - Revolution Software Co-Founder Charles Cecil shared details today at Gamescom 2013 on upcoming title Broken Sword: The Serpent's Curse on PS Vita below.

To quote: Broken Sword: The Serpent's Curse starts with intrepid lawyer, George Stobbart, and sassy journalist, Nico Collard, caught in the deadly robbery of a seemingly worthless painting.

But we, the audience, also see a scene from the Second World War in which Spanish fascists storm a Catalan villa, killing the family, and seizing that same painting.

As George and Nico are drawn into the murderous conspiracy, those around them claim that the painting is cursed by the Devil himself. George and Nico soon come to believe that they may just be right.

Broken Sword: The Serpent's Curse is very much an adventure - traditional in terms of its core spirit, but wholly contemporary in terms of graphics and gameplay.

The game was first announced as part of a Kickstarter appeal in August 2012 and, after attracting over 15,000 backers, doubled its goal. We were thrilled at the response of fans - particularly after hearing so often that the adventure game had died as a genre.

As well as funding a major part of the development, the appeal brought together a wonderful community of Broken Sword fans - epitomised...

66w ago - Arrowhead Game Studios CEO and Game Director Johan Pilestedt posted up a video today at Gamescom 2013 announcing that Helldivers is coming to PS4, PS3 and PlayStation Vita in 2014.

To quote: You may know of Arrowhead Game Studios from our previous games like Magicka and today we're excited to announce that we've teamed up with Sony Computer Entertainment and Foster City Studios to create our next game!

So, for all of you out there, both new fans and old, I give you Helldivers. Built for both single-player campaigns and up to four player co-op missions, Helldivers is a top-down shooter set in a satirical and dystopian future where mankind is ruled by a managed democracy.

Of course, this world also happens to be in a perpetual war against three alien species, one of which we revealed in our Gamescom trailer!

As part of the elite unit called the Helldivers, you choose your deployment zone and dive into battle on procedurally-generated battlefields. Once there, utilize overpowered weapons and Stratagems to defeat the enemies of mankind.

Working together as a team will be vital, whether calling in strikes or placing weapons, each action must be totally synchronized to achieve objectives....
