Video: PSX Games Running on PS Vita Exploit Hack Demo

350°
123w ago - Last week we reported on how the PlayStation Suite SDK allows NES emulation on PS Vita, and today PlayStation Vita homebrew developer wololo reports that PSX games are now running PS Vita through an exploit hack as demonstrated in the video below.

To quote: A few weeks ago, an anonymous hacker released a dump of the flash0 from the PSP emulator running on the PS Vita. Although it brought nothing new for the end user, it was a verifiable proof that this hacker has access to a kernel exploit running on the PSP emulator.

This week, the same dev apparently got PS1 games to run on the Vita, as shown in the video below (thanks to the Z)

For those who wonder, I have no reason to doubt the authenticity of the video, I wouldn't see any good reason for a guy who has proven he has a kernel PSP exploit to then produce a fake.

It is important to clarify that our forum member the Z is in contact with this anonymous developer, but they are (AFAIK)...

Guide to Porting VHBL (PS Vita Half-Byte Loader) Game Exploits

1300°
130w ago - This weekend PlayStation Vita developer wololo has made available a guide to porting VHBL (PS Vita Half-Byte Loader) to individual game exploits for those interested.

This news comes proceeding the recent Motorstorm Arctic Edge and Everybody's Tennis PSP / PS Vita game exploits.

Below is the guide, to quote from his blog (linked above): This guide assumes that you found a [Register or Login to view links] in a game, and that you were able to write a [Register or Login to view links].

So now what’s next? Well, as you probably know if you’ve gone that far, the PSP scene doesn’t really like “hello worlds”. A hello world is nice, but it accomplishes nothing, it just draws Sony’s attention to your exploit, and you know the vulnerability will be patched soon, while nobody really used the exploit.

Well, the next step is, ideally, a HEN or a custom firmware. Of course, this requires a kernel exploit, and...

Everybody's Tennis Vulnerability for PSP on PS Vita is Revealed

1300°
131w ago - Following up on his PS Vita VHBL Motorstorm Arctic Edge release, this weekend PS Vita and PSP hacker wololo has revealed that Everybody's Tennis (known as Hot Shots Tennis in the US and Minna no Tennis in Japan) contains a vulnerability that could lead to the execution of external code and has since been removed from PSN by Sony.

To quote from his blog (linked above) as follows: Dear Sony, it has come to my [Register or Login to view links] that one of the PSP games available on the PlayStation Vita has a vulnerability that could lead to the execution of external code by some malicious users. Therefore I am writing this blog post so that you can patch the game or remove it from the PSN store as soon as possible.

Preferably, I suggest you take the money from your clients first, and prevent...

Video: PS Vita PSP HEN Demo, Kernel Access Through Exploit

1000°
132w ago - Following up on the PSP SaveGame Exploit on PS Vita from a few days ago, today PlayStation Vita hacker wololo reports that [Register or Login to view links] has obtained PSP Kernel access on PS Vita through another exploit with a PS Vita PSP HEN demo video and details below!

To quote: Famous PSP dev Davee just posted a YouTube video showing him running PSP homebrews on a Vita. I initially thought “well, not a big surprise, he’s running his own port of VHBL to some random exploited game”, but it turns out this is much more interesting than that, as he managed to get a PSP Kernel exploit running on the PSP Emulator.

Davee had hinted a few days ago on twitter that he had PSP User mode access, but it’s a surprise to see Kernel mode today. What this means to the end user is full homebrew compatibility (unlike VHBL which is hit and miss), and potentially down the road, PSP iso loaders (the video actually shows a psp iso running). Check his video below:

The video shows a minimalist interface called “PRX Loader” which seems to be used to run the homebrews. No word...

Video: PSP SaveGame Exploit By Zer01ne on PS Vita Demo

1000°
132w ago - Following up on the previous PSP SaveGame exploit news, this weekend PlayStation Vita developer Zer01ne has Tweeted news of a new PSP game exploit that works on Firmware 6.60 and has also been confirmed working with Sony's new PS Vita handheld console as well!

Below is a video of it in action, and to quote from his [Register or Login to view links] updates:

New PSP Game exploit found (This time the game was not already used).

No plan for any HBL portage (We will see). [Register or Login to view links]

I have broken my right arm, the VHBL portage will take time. I will try to do something on with my left arm.

The exploit works on Vita.. See video:
