28w ago - Backbone Entertainment Producer Jeremy Mahler has announced that with Midway Arcade Origins fans can play 31 Arcade Classics starting today on PS3!

To quote: Today, Backbone is excited to give PS3 owners a chance to truly test their old-school arcade skills. For those of you who can actually remember having to put tokens or quarters into an actual Joust or Robotron machine, you may know this isn't the first Midway collection Backbone has developed.

But Midway Arcade Origins is the first of this generation, and it's definitely the best ever with 31 Midway arcade games assembled on one disc.

First off, we really wanted to make sure we paid proper homage to the collection's arcade roots, so right from the main menu we included a model of the original arcade cabinet and the marquee (arcade term for the light-up game logo) for each game. In terms of emulation quality, each game looks and plays exactly the same as its arcade counterpart.

In fact, the PS3's capabilities has made it possible for many of the games to feature true sound emulation for the first time on a console, resulting in a better sound response than in any previous collection.

31w ago - Sony Social Media Manager Sid Shuman has once again gone behind the classics and shared an interview with Amy Hennig today who talks Soul Reaver secrets below!

To quote: Ah, Soul Reaver. I remember it well! This gruesome little gem made quite the splash when it landed on PSone in 1999.

As the wounded, ostracized vampire Raziel, your goal was to avenge yourself against the corrupt vampire lord Kain and restore balance to the decaying world of Nosgoth.

I particularly remember the game's inspired approach to combat; your vampiric foes couldn't be killed by ordinary means, so after weakening them with hand-to-hand combat you had to hurl their broken bodies onto a sharp stake or into a patch of sunlight to finish them off.

The level design was also a knockout, as Raziel was able to phase-shift into a spectral realm in order to bypass obstacles or solve puzzles.

But above all else, Soul Reaver is remembered for its story and characters. And we have the game's director Amy Hennig to thank for that! As you're probably well aware, Hennig later joined celebrated PlayStation developer Naughty Dog, serving as creative director and writer for Jak and Daxter and all three UNCHARTED titles.

32w ago - Atari Senior Director of Digital Strategy and Distribution Todd Shallbetter has announced alongside a video trailer that the classic Warlords is officially reimagined for PSN today.

To quote: Warlords, one of Atari's original and celebrated arcade titles, is launching in updated form for the PlayStation Network today!

I'm sure there are readers out there who've spent many hours in the arcades playing Warlords and other Atari games back in the 80s. With this new PSN version, we wanted to capture all the fast-paced, multiplayer fun that made the original a hit in its day.

But as you'll see, Warlords has been completely overhauled with a new identity for modern consoles, yet we really felt it important to keep it as true to the original as possible. As Nolan Bushnell used to say, Atari games are "simple to play, difficult to master." I think you'll find that to be the case with Warlords.

The core concept of the game remains the same as the original - defend your fortress while attacking others. You can play either cooperatively or competitively, defending your fort from attacks with up to three other players.
