17w ago - Capcom Producer Rey Jimenez confirmed that DuckTales: Remastered PSN hits PlayStation Network today with a trailer video below.
To quote: I've been working with the team at WayForward Technologies to bring you guys DuckTales: Remastered, launching today for PS3 as part of PlayStation Store PLAY.
At the start of development, the main goal of the project revolved around updating the game while keeping the gameplay true to the original NES game.
As the game progressed in development, we found that all of the new content really started to bring the original cartoon to life as well.
For those that may not know, the original DuckTales is firmly seated in the pantheon of the greatest NES games of all time. Widely praised for its tight controls, addicting platforming, and some of the best 8-bit music known to humanity, DuckTales stood apart as a fantastic licensed game.
When creating DuckTales: Remastered, the very first step was to make sure the game felt right, meaning it played just like the NES version. To do this, early versions were tuned so that you could play the original NES version of the game and our new version at the same time with one controller. So for your pure platform gamers, you're going to find that this game just feels right.
17w ago - Spiders Studio Project Manager Walid Miled confirmed that Mars War Logs is out tomorrow on PlayStation Network.
To quote: As a sci-fi action RPG, Mars War Logs will take you to a never-before-seen version of the Red Planet.
The Turmoil, an event that transformed Mars, reversed centuries of terraforming. Human governments struggle to keep a once-prosperous Martian civilization together while battling over precious resources.
Mars War Logs is the story of Roy Temperance and Innocence Smith. One's a renegade technomancer, and the other was in the wrong place at the wrong time. It's a tale of friendship, resistance, and freedom.
Spiders Studio was founded with the Mars project in mind, but it took nearly four years for the idea to mature and the tools to develop.
One of the greatest challenges was to get the player involved with our characters and their quest for freedom and justice. To do so, we empowered the player with choices that really affect the outcomes and events of the plot.
Mars War Logs is also, and foremost, an action RPG. Players have to fight other humans and mutants, but there are also monsters unique to a Martian ecology that are shaped by Mars' wild terrain, the Turmoil, and human terraforming.
18w ago - Q-Games Producer James Mielke shared a video below today spotlighting the new PS3 Visualizer application from Q-Games which arrives this Tuesday.
To quote: Hi everyone! It's been a while but I'm back for a second tour of duty on PlayStation.Blog, although I should point out that I switched Qs in the interim (I was formerly a producer at Q Entertainment, and am now a producer at Q-Games).
The reason for my check-in here today is to announce a brand-new app (you'll find it in the 'Apps' section on PSN) for PlayStation 3 simply titled Visualizer, which, as the name suggests, is a new set of over two dozen music visualizers to use with your PS3's music library.
As you may know, Q-Games is known for its technological contributions to the games industry, in addition to its PixelJunk series of games. Q (initially Dylan Cuthbert and Kentaro Yoshida) crafted the legendary duck demo for the original PlayStation 2 reveal, and later as a company were responsible for a lot of the visual effects, XMB bar, and visualizers built in to the PlayStation 3. Q-Games also handled a lot of the interface programming on PS Vita, so, essentially, we know our way around Sony's hardware.
18w ago - Sony PS Store and Plus Content Manager Chris Howe announced that the next PSP and PS Vita sale starts today on PlayStation Network.
To quote: It's been quite a ride so far as we have worked our way through the consoles that have made the PlayStation brand a global phenomenon.
But our story would not be complete without taking a look at our handheld platforms. The PSP revolutionized portable gaming with amazing screen, robust multimedia capabilities and connectivity with our other Sony platforms. But what we all really love are games, and the PSP produced some real classics.
Our very own God of War: Chains of Olympus tops it for me but how can we forget Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, WipEout Pure and Final Fantasy Tactics: The War of the Lions. What a great library.
That brings us to our latest console, the PS Vita. Now in terms of lifespan, PS Vita is just a youngster, so what we want to know from you is what your best moments with it have been so far? This magical piece of kit is here to stay and it's only going to get better with the PS4!
Personally I love playing FIFA 13 on its crystal clear screen; it passes the time brilliantly on my journey to and from PlayStation HQ every day. I am also eagerly awaiting the release...
