PlayStation Suite SDK Open to Developers in April, PS Vita Support

146w ago - Following up on our previous article, today Engadget (linked above) reports that Sony's PlayStation Suite will be open to all developers beginning in April with PS Vita support followed by a full SDK coming afterwards.

The PS Suite SDK will allow licensed developers to create and run performance testing on all PlayStation-certified Android smartphones and tablets as well as the PS Vita.

This SDK Beta will be free of charge, while the official version will come later this year and require a $99 annual subscription in return for allowing devs to make their wares commercially available on Sony's platform.

Sony PlayStation Suite SDK to Hit PS Developers This November

171w ago - At the Tokyo Game Show this year Sony Computer Entertainment announced that they will be distributing a PlayStation Suite SDK to developers this coming November.

With the PS Suite SDK, PlayStation developers can create content for PlayStation Certified (PS Certified) devices including the Xperia PLAY Smartphone, S1 and S2 Tablets as well as for PlayStation Vita.

PS3 Full 3.40 SDK Out, Sony PlayStation 3 SDK Leaked by Duplex!

173w ago - Earlier today we reported on the PS3 Debug / Test Firmware 3.70 update being leaked, and now the entire PS3 3.40 SDK has been leaked by PlayStation 3 scene group Duplex.

This news comes a few weeks after the recent Sony PS3 SDK GCC Cell OS LV2 Toolchain Sources leak, and for those following... previously the PS3 SDK 3.41 Toolchain & RAF Compiler, a Differences Comparison, and the PS3 SDK 1.92 was leaked alongside a guide on how to set it up.

According to the PS3 NFO, the official release name is PS3.Full.3.40.SDK.PS3-DUPLEX...
 

Open Source PS3 Toolchain Development Begins

224w ago - The first version of an open source toolchain for PS3 is available today courtesy of ooPo, meaning a possibility to create PlayStation 3 hombrew without requiring the Sony SDK.

What does this do?

This program will automatically build and install a compiler and other tools used in the creation of homebrew software for the Sony PlayStation 3 videogame system.

How do I use it?

1) Set up your environment by installing the following software:

autoconf, automake, bison, flex, gcc, make, makeinfo, patch, subversion, wget

2) Add the following to your login script:

export PS3DEV=/usr/local/ps3dev
export PATH=$PATH:$PS3DEV/bin
export PATH=$PATH:$PS3DEV/ppu/bin
export PATH=$PATH:$PS3DEV/spu/bin

3) Run the toolchain script:

./toolchain.sh
