Spin Pong is an fun and addictive 2-player Pong game for PS3, with some interesting physics and stereo sound.
This was coded using only a retail unit, using logging over UDP.
• Use left analog stick up/down to move paddles.
• Press X to signal that you are ready. Both players need to signal ready before game starts.
• Press START to signal that you want a game reset. Both players need to signal wants-reset before game starts.
I built this with the 1.92 SDK on windows with msys. Just do this:
• you now have spinpong.pkg
• install as usual
• For homebrew developers check out Log.h/Log.cpp for code to log over network.
• To view the logs, use: $ socat udp-recv:6160...

171w ago - Yesterday we reported that Sony halted PS JailBreak Australian sales and distribution, and today OzMods (linked above) confirms PS3 homebrew will still arrive next week while the PS JailBreak folks stand by their claim that the PlayStation 3 modchip contains no Sony code.
Below is an image from the PS JailBreak discussion via ConsoleWinkel.nl and OzMods full statement, to quote:
"28/08/2010 - Hello Everyone. On Friday the 27/08/2010 we where given some documents from the Lawyers representing Sony. The documents are Federal Court orders for a temporary injunction.
The Injunction states that from 24 hours of receiving the documents to the 31st of August OzModChips, Quantronics, Modsupplier and anyone else in Australia:
• Give up all stock in our possession, including our sample
I guess it was lucky that the device was delayed by a couple of days. While many people that have received their sample and sent it off to cloners....we sent ours to a well known homebrew developer.
The developer we picked showed us various homebrew applications that he had already developed for ps3 dev units, that he wants to port over to retail units. Yes, PS3 homebrew...
171w ago - Previously we shared Spanish, French, and English PS JailBreak PS3 Reviews, and today we have a few videos from Dutch site DynaModz (linked above) testing the PSJailBreak USB modchip on their PlayStation 3 console.
Below are the videos and their feedback on the new PS JailBreak PS3 modchip, to quote roughly translated:
"The sample has arrived in a beautiful gift box with a USB stick, unfortunately no manual (they will be forgotten).
The features we are most striking and important are this product:
• The PS JailBreak works with every PlayStation 3 model on the market (FAT or SLIM).
• Backups of games, both on the internal HDD and external HDD made and loaded.
• Works with all existing PS3 games.
• Supports homebrew.
• Supports the PlayStation 3 in all regions (USA, JAP, PAL and KOREA).
• Upgradeable via PC and support for any more options.
Importantly, to our knowledge the PS Jailbreak only works on a PlayStation 3 with firmware 3.41. We do not know if the PS are Jailbreak will work after a firmware update for the PlayStation 3.
• PlayStation 3 with firmware 3.41 installed (this goes for the sample we received)....
172w ago - Yesterday we caught a glimpse of some PS JailBreak Reviews which confirmed PS3 Firmware 3.41 is required, and today we have some PS3 JailBreak details from PlayStation 3 hackers SKFU and the DemonHades Team along with some pictures of the inside of the PS JailBreak (below) courtesy of PlanetadeJuego.com.
For those who missed it, PS JailBreak was first announced two days ago and is a USB device which allows end-users to play PS3 game back-ups on Sony's PlayStation 3 entertainment system.
"I just tested the software they uploaded and can confirm it works so far.
I can tell a bit about the backup manager. It seems the software uses bd_emu features to manage the backups. The HDD to use, should have a modified bd emu format, which sets all backups on first position, so the PS3 detects 'em all. Then you can choose the image to boot via the manager.
