Video: Twisted Metal's Iron Maiden PS3 Demo, Comic-Con Plans

200°
168w ago - Eat Sleep Play Co-Founder David Jaffe has posted up a new Twisted Metal Iron Maiden PS3 demo today and shared details on their Comic-Con 2011 plans.

To quote: I get into a little about the character stories as well as talk about gameplay balance and the pros and cons between the game's 15+ vehicles.

I also gab a bit about the reveal of Iron Maiden, the biggest and most complicated boss we've ever had in a Twisted Metal game!

E3 was a blast this year! It was really cool to connect with fans at the booth while they went tried out Twisted Metal's signature Nuke mode. It was also fun showing off our newest level: New York City during the holiday season.

The very first Twisted Metal game - released back in 1995! - takes place at Christmas time as well and I guess we wanted to pay a little homage. Also, I just love the idea of chaos and destruction centered around what is usually one of the happiest, warmest, most fun times of the year! Does that make me bad?!? So check out the video- hope you dig it!

And next up is Comic-Con in San Diego July 21-24 so hope to see ya'll there. Thank you again for the support, thanks so much for stopping by to play our game and say 'hey' at the show, and please stay tuned...

Rumor: Sony Rep Reveals PS3 Backwards Compatibility Plans

800°
200w ago - Today TheGameHeadz.com (linked above) reports that a Rep revealed Sony's PS3 backwards compatibility plans to them at a recent press event.

While they didn't reveal their informant's name, a few months ago a patent for an adapter to make PS3 backwards compatible was uncovered.

To quote: "It was clear from our conversation that Sony likes the idea of backwards compatibility, but hadn't come to a conclusion until recently, on how to incorporate it.

The decision Sony finally came to is the one already in play, HD remastering.

"Remastering didn't come up until about two years ago. For a developer, remastering in HD took a moderate amount of time and effort to achieve, and with the right title it could be very successful. Once we noticed the benefits of HD remastering, the decision was made to use God of War 1 & 2 as the test for the market, and they delivered.

The God of War Collection had reached almost a million copies sold just after the holiday. Shortly aftter that Activision, EA, UbiSoft, Konami, and SquareEnix were all on board to issue ReMastered Edition of their best Playstation 2 Games."

He went on to say doing backwards compatibility...

MySpace Plans Gaming Push, Allows Devs to Launch Games

100°
267w ago - News Corp's latest strategy to turn MySpace into a cool place to be at again is to turn it into a videogame platform.

MySpace will attempt to expand as well as allow developers to launch their products on the site.

To quote: News Corp's latest [Register or Login to view links] to make MySpace into a go-to destination for Web surfers is to turn it into a gaming platform, according to News Corp digital head Jonathan Miller.

Miller told the Fortune Brainstorm: TECH conference in Pasadena, California that he wanted to expand the site's videogame platform and offer developers the ability to launch their products on the site and mine user data to develop better games.

"None of the traditional media conglomerates are also significant video game players, so to speak, and I think that that's the missing piece of the equation, particularly when you see how much time is spent playing games online," Miller said.
