Video: First L.A. Noire PlayStation 3 Game Trailer Arrives

100°
210w ago - ANZ Content Services Manager Nino Kalogeropoulos has unveiled the first L.A. Noire PlayStation 3 video game trailer today for fans!

To quote: Rockstar Games today released the highly anticipated first trailer for L.A. Noire, coming to PlayStation 3 in 2011, and it looks to be an absolute 'stunner'.

Developed by Team Bondi, a new Australian based studio founded by Brendan McNamara of The Getaway, in conjunction with Rockstar Games, L.A. Noire is a dark and violent detective thriller set against the backdrop of Los Angeles in the post-war years of the late 1940s, the most corrupt and violent period in the city's history.

One look at the trailer and it becomes quickly apparent why this game has been so long in development. Movie-quality voice acting and dialogue is combined with what can only be described as some of the most realistic in-game visuals yet seen in a console game (certainly as far as character animation goes).

Based on groundbreaking performance capture technology that goes beyond traditional methods to render every subtlety and nuance of an actor's facial expressions and emotions, L.A. Noire is the first game to truly explore what it means to be a detective, offering players the opportunity to solve crimes...

Team Bondi Seeking More Talent for L.A. Noire Production

50°
292w ago - Every time we see the title "L.A. Noire" in the news, we always tense up in anticipation of bad news. After all, this is a project that seems to have struggled through a lengthy development process, and there was even talk of a cancellation at some point.

But as Joystiq pointed out, the latest update should be considered encouraging. Team Bondi (also responsible for The Getaway) is [Register or Login to view links] for plenty of talented individuals to join the team, perhaps in an attempt to push through the final stages.

They're looking for everything from animators to artists to coders to designers, so if you think you've got the skills, perhaps you'd like to apply. If not, and you're merely looking for good news concerning L.A. Noire, then you should be somewhat satisfied. Although we'd like to assume that development has reached a critical stage, we still have no official update on the team's progress.

Our last update said the game would be about a year away, and that was last fall; September, to be exact. Therefore, E3 may be the time when Rockstar announces a concrete release date for this long-awaited crime thriller, and if that happens, it'll be big news indeed.

Anyway, we'll let you know if there's any movement on the L.A. Noire front; at this point,...

L.A. Noire: A Year Off and No Longer PS3 Exclusive?

50°
322w ago - Tom Crago, the CEO of Tantalus and the president of the Game Developers' Association of Australia, yesterday gave an overview of the Australian game development industry at GC Asia 2008, and IGN was there to nab a few little tidbits on L.A. Noire, the Rockstar-published game being developed out of Team Bondi in Sydney.

No one has heard anything on the title for some time, but Crago confirmed that "it's got - I'd suggest - another year or so to go". He also mentioned that it "could be the biggest budget videogame in development anywhere in the world. It would certainly... in terms of console titles, be in the top ten... LA Noire is a massive massive project."

And last, but by no means least, he mentioned that the game is coming to PS3 and 360 - up until now the title has only been confirmed for PS3. We'll let you know as soon as we can get independent confirmation from either Team Bondi or Rockstar.

Mr Crago also spoke of L.A. Noire's importance to the Australian development industry, saying that:

"It's one that we hold huge hopes for. It has been said about Australia that we've not been that successful putting out a title that really has set the world on fire; a big budget title that's sold multiple million copies and that has really put...

L.A. Noire Pushed to 2009

50°
376w ago - Amidst all the excitement for a few other Rockstar titles, it's easy to overlook L.A. Noire. A subdued PlayStation 3 exclusive with style to spare, Noire takes us to the grainy film period with a detective thriller -- but it won't be doing that for some time.

Kotaku notes today that during Take-Two's 2008 financial conference call, L.A. Noire was no where to be found, and Take-Two said it's been pushed back to at least 2009. By the time the game hits, there will be even fewer people who remember what "noire" is.
