Video: How Woah Dave Blends Old with New on PS4 and PS Vita

4w ago - Choice Provisions Designer Jason Cirillo shared a video today detailing how Woah Dave blends old with new on PS4 and PS Vita platforms.

To quote: Hi! I'm Jason Cirillo from Choice Provisions, the creator of a game called Woah Dave!

This is my first time writing for PlayStation.Blog and I'm super stoked to share our new game with you. Woah Dave! will be coming very soon to PS4 and PS Vita, and will feature all the cross buy support you could ever want.

Woah Dave! is one of the first games released under our new MiniVisions label, and we couldn't be happier. The goal of MiniVisions is to create smaller games with a focus on pure fun, and Dave definitely delivers!

If this is the first time you're hearing about Woah Dave!, then you'll probably notice that it's very heavily inspired by some of the most popular arcade games of the 1980′s.

It's not just another homage to retro games, however, as the chaos and challenge is ramped up to satiate the needs of the modern day gamer. It's a simple little game, but once you've played it, you'll understand why some called it the funnest game in the Indie Megabooth at PAX East!

The basic premise is that poor Dave has taken it upon...

5w ago - Gearbox Software Content Editor Andrew Goldfarb shared a new PS3 video trailer today showcasing Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel featuring Hammerlock and Torgue below.

To quote: Holy crap, guys, [Register or Login to view links] is coming out so soon.

We're less than a month away from release, and there's still so much more exciting stuff we have left to show off.

Today, we have a new video featuring Mr. Torgue (Explosions!) and Sir Hammerlock (Scientific research!) explaining the ins and outs of life on Pandora's moon of Elpis, ranging from new enemies and the impact of low gravity to our new playable Vault Hunters: Wilhelm, Athena, Nisha, and Claptrap.

You'll also get your first details about the Grinder, a new machine that lets you turn your crappy busted old guns and equipment, into shiny new ones.

Beyond that, we're also finally talking about some of the rad new characters you'll meet this time around. There are plenty of returning favorites like Lilith, Roland, and Moxxi, but there are also a few new faces you may have spotted in a few of the previous...

Video: The Delicious Sounds of The Evil Within on PS4 and PS3

7w ago - Bethesda Softworks Global Community Lead Matt Grandstaff shared a video today spotlighting the delicious sounds of The Evil Within on PS4 and PS3 below.

To quote: Dripping blood, gooey brains, and terrifying cries of the Haunted. When playing The Evil Within - Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami's return to survival horror - you can expect plenty of gruesome sounds that beg to be played with surround speakers or noise-cancelling headphones.

What you wouldn't expect is how these sounds are engineered. Stomach-turning noises that could make squeamish players lose their lunch are, actually, created by the very foods you might eat during lunch.

On a recent trip to Tango Gameworks, the sound team had the Bethesda Underground team (myself included) track down items to create heinous sound effects for the game.

With a short grocery list of cantaloupe and raw beef from sound designer Mashahiro Izumi, we decided to have some fun and surprise him with additional items to throw into the mix.: noodles, marshmallows, potato chips, and more.

The results? The experience was nearly as terrifying as the game itself. Well versed in the arena of Foley work, Izumi-san assaulted the foods we provided with...

Video: Destiny: Remote Play Hands-on for PS4 and PS Vita

7w ago - Sony Social Media Senior Manager Sid Shuman posted up a video today showcasing Destiny remote play hands-on for PS4 and PS Vita consoles.

To quote: Destiny is just days away! I wanted to share a quick video showing off its Remote Play experience, which enables you to wirelessly stream the game from your PS4 to your PS Vita.

I spent some time playing Destiny via Remote Play during the Beta and I was really impressed with not only how good it looked on PS Vita's vivid 5-inch screen, but also how responsive it was. The team over at Bungie actually optimized the controls for Destiny on PS Vita via Remote Play.

Check out the full control scheme (below).

One of the things we noticed during the week of the Destiny Beta was that a lot of PS4 owners were streaming Destiny to their PS Vitas via Remote Play.

In fact, Destiny was the No. 1 title for Remote Play during the entire month of July, racking up the most Remote Play sessions of any PS4 title.

Video: Murasaki Baby Hands-on: Strange New Worlds on PS Vita

50°
8w ago - Sony Social Media Senior Manager Sid Shuman shared a hands-on video today which explores the strange new worlds in Murasaki Baby on PS Vita.

To quote: Here's the thing about PS Vita exclusive Murasaki Baby: it's one of the strangest, most subversive games I've played.

It seems like studio Ovosonico designed it to deliberately get under the skin of established game conventions, and the result is something I've never quite seen before.

You don't directly control the titular Baby, for instance; instead, you lead her through a disturbing world solely using PS Vita's front touchscreen and rear touchpad (that's right: no buttons or analog sticks at all). As the game progresses, Baby learns from your interactions and gradually becomes a bit more independent.

The game's universe is the real star, starting with the lively sketch-like art direction of the environment and its characters. From the ominous landscapes - which look like Tim Burton fever dreams - to the grotesque character designs, Murasaki Baby is a study in how to make cute creepy.

Watch my playthrough of the game's first chapter to see why Murasaki Baby is worth keeping an eye out when it lands on PS Vita this September.
