Tales of Xillia Interview: Namco's RPG Series Gets Bigger & Bigger

200°
80w ago - Sony Blog Manager Fred Dutton has shared an interview today with Namco Bandai on their upcoming Tales of Xillia RPG series video game below.

To quote: Good news for anyone who's been enjoying Namco Bandai's enormous JRPG Tales of Graces F since its launch back in August: its immediate successor, Tales of Xillia, is on its way exclusively to PlayStation 3 in 2013.

We've struggled our way through an hour or so of the original Japanese version, which launched overseas back in 2011, and the 13th entry in the long-running series brings with it a number of significant new innovations for the much-loved franchise.

Duly, we took the time to check in with producer Hideo Baba while in Tokyo last month to find out exactly what fans should expect.

PlayStation Blog: What are the key new additions to the Tales formula since Tales of Graces?

Hideo Baba, Producer: There are many unique features in Xillia but I'd like to emphasise that the battle system is very unique and much improved over the previous title. Also, the portrayal of the game world and its atmosphere has also changed a lot too.

In the previous games the characters were very deformed - they were much shorter - but with Xillia the team has tried to show the characters in realistic proportions...

Tales of Xillia Coming to PS3, Namco Bandai Answers Your Questions

300°
91w ago - Sony Senior Social Media Manager Jeff Rubenstein has confirmed today that Tales of Xillia is coming to PS3, and has interviewed Hideo Baba of Namco Bandai who addresses many questions on the PlayStation 3 title below.

To quote: This PS3-exclusive RPG is a celebration of sorts for the Tales series of RPGs, which had been around for 15 years at the time of the game's release in Japan.

But rather than just rehash classic elements, the Tales team took some chances, crafting a new battle system and a more grown-up visual style. The result, according to Famitsu, is the best Tales game yet.

Last week, I had a chance to pose some questions (including some of your Twitter queries) to Tales series producer Hideo Baba. Here are his answers:

Jeff Rubenstein, PlayStation Blog: Tales of Graces f came to PS3, but Vesperia didn't hit PS3 in North America. Now Tales of Xillia has been announced for North America. How do you determine which titles in the series get a an English-language conversion?

Hideo Baba, NAMCO BANDAI Studios Inc.: Given the current resources assigned to the Tales of series team, I am always trying to find ways to assign staff members to work on a Western localized...

Video: Namco Bandai on Armored Core V Customization & Bosses

50°
111w ago - Namco Bandai Games Community Manager Rich Bantegui has posted up a video showcasing Armored Core V customization and bosses for fans today.

To quote: Today we're coming back at you with more Armored Core V action, and a deeper look at the customization, weapons, bosses, and AC insanity that you'll be finding yourself in the middle of come March 20th.

Between the kinetic energy, the chemical energy, and the thermal energy, there's a massive arsenal worth of firepower that you'll be able to choose from when building your ultimate machine of destruction in the game.

As we've said before, the team at FromSoftware has been a leader in the genre with this franchise for nearly fifteen years, and with Armored Core V, and they mean business.

Each AC you build is highly unlikely to be identical to any others you come across online since customization is key. Brand new for this game are the recon units that players are going to be able to lay out all over the map to survey the land and take out your enemies.

What's also cool are the emblems and detailing customization aspects that let you trick out your AC like no other. You can get crazy with it, and...

Namco Bandai: Touch My Katamari Hits PS Vita in February 2012

300°
130w ago - Namco Bandai Games Community Manager Rich Bantegui has announced today that Touch My Katamari will be hitting PS Vita in February 2012.

To quote: The PlayStation Nation now has a final release date for when they can get their mitts on the PS Vita, and February 22nd couldn't come soon enough!

Why am I back today to steal the spotlight on the blog yet again? If you remember back during the Tokyo Game Show, I let all of you know that our team was producing a new Katamari game for the PS Vita, and I got to give you the first scoop on the news.

Well, today NAMCO BANDAI is finally ready to reveal what that Katarmari game will officially be dubbed here in the US of A... and that name is... TOUCH MY KATAMARI!

The very best part of this aside from the giggle-inducing name? TOUCH MY KATAMARI is going to be available on February 22nd, 2012, day and date of the launch of the PS Vita! The King of All Cosmos has commanded it so!

I've been checking out the latest builds of the game since TGS, and the Prince's next adventure is just as nonsensical as ever.

Fans have been dying to have an on-the-go, two-analog stick version of Katamari for ages, and TOUCH MY KATAMARI does it right. In addition to the two sticks, players can also opt to use the front touch screen...
