187w ago - Today Capcom's Europe Brand Manager Richard Earl has announced alongside a video trailer that Lost Planet 2 is officially released for Sony's PlayStation 3 entertainment system.
To quote: The sequel to Lost Planet: Extreme Conditions has seen massive changes take place across the planet of E.D.N.III.
We think we've got climate change issues? Earth has nothing on this place! The snow has melted across the planet to reveal all kinds of hostile environments in which you will have to adapt and do battle.
The local Akrid creatures are also still as angry as ever... As well as changes to the environment the game has also seen massive advances for the sequel.
The multi-player mode for the game sees you and three mates work together through 6 massive levels battling rival pirate clans, akrid creatures and massive (and I really mean MASSIVE) bosses. To help you take on all these enemies there is a huge array of weapons and Vital-Suits which amounts to some seriously hard firepower.
There's also a huge level of customisation in the game with which you can create your own unique pirate and unlock weapons, power ups and emotes. You can then take your own character into the online multiplayer modes to unleash some serious pwnage.
188w ago - Today JustPushStart.com (linked above) has confirmed that Lost Planet 2 for PlayStation 3, which arrives next week, requires a mandatory 4.61GB PS3 HDD installation.
Hopefully this means the next installment won't be as sluggish as the PlayStation 3 port of Lost Planet: Extreme Condition.
The story takes place back on E.D.N. III 10 years after the events of the first game. The snow has melted to reveal jungles and more tropical areas that have taken the place of more frozen regions.
The game will center on an ongoing civil war to gain T-ENG (Thermal-ENerGy). The player(s) will assume control of several different factions such as Yuri's Snow Pirates, NEVEC (NEo-VEnus Construction) and many other groups battling the Akrid, a race of large insects native to E.D.N. III.
The Akrid have expanded their armies and return much more powerful in Lost Planet 2.
For those curious, Capcom's Lost Planet 2 will arrive on the PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Microsoft Windows in North America and Europe on May 11, 2010 and in Japan on May 20, 2010.
To quote: "Mandatory installation for PS3 games released by Capcom has been a trend lately. We've been forced to do mandatory installations for games such as Devil May Cry 4 and Resident Evil 5.
190w ago - Today Capcom PR Manager Brian Keltner has revealed that the Lost Planet 2 multiplayer PS3 demo is now available on PSN, and he also shared a trailer video for the PlayStation 3 title below.
To quote: Beginning with today's PlayStation Store Update, the Lost Planet 2 Multiplayer Demo will be available on PSN. Get together with up to 16 players, grab some weapons, jump in a vital suit and compete in Elimination, Team Elimination, or Data post Grab modes.
This is just a sample of the various modes and ten maps you'll be able to play when the full game ships on May 11.
But wait, there is more! Downloading the demo does more than just let you get a first taste at Lost Planet 2. Capcom has started an exciting charity campaign called, "Kill Big for Charity".
We are partnering with Music for Relief, a non-profit organization dedicated to disaster relief and disaster risk mitigation, to contribute $20,000 to charity if one million demos are downloaded across both PSN and XBL before May 5, 2010. An additional $5,000 will be added to the pot if an extra 500,000 demo downloads can be achieved.
To celebrate the launch of Lost Planet 2, we will be throwing a tournament on May 6 in Los Angeles. Select members of our community,...
