Slightly Mad Studios Offers a First Look at Project CARS on PS4

100°
20w ago - Today Creative Director Andy Tudor at Slightly Mad Studios offers a first look at their project CARS on PS4 with details below.

To quote: If you haven't heard about it already, Project CARS is a bit different. Different in the philosophy of freedom that runs throughout the entire game, and different in how it's being created - by YOU, the gamers!

Project CARS was conceived back in October 2011 (Wow, time flies!) as a natural continuation of our work on two of racing's biggest franchises - Need For Speed and Test Drive - and as a return to our roots when we created GTR and GT Legends.

Back when we were conceiving the idea, we knew we wanted to create a racing game that covered a wide range of different car types and motorsports, and gave you the freedom to play and experiment with them however you wanted.

We wanted the core driving experience to be the most authentic on the planet, and we wanted to provide you with all the features you need to recreate a race weekend as it happens in real life - complete with a dynamic time of day and a weather system that not only looks beautiful but challenges your skills and provides strategic opportunities.

And we wanted to connect players together with a variety of online and community features - time trials, events,...

Video: First Look: Behind the Terror of Alien: Isolation on PS4

100°
25w ago - Sony Social Media Manager Sid Shuman shared a first look behind the terror today of Alien: Isolation on PS4 and PS3 consoles alongside a video and interview below.

To quote: Alone, unprepared, and unarmed, Amanda Ripley is forced to match wits with death itself in Alien: Isolation.

The Creative Assembly's deeply immersive and fanatically detailed survival-horror game returns to the roots of the Alien film franchise - no pulse rifles or space marines here, just you, your wits, and the galaxy's most feared predator.

To better understand the "lo-fi sci-fi" origin of Alien: Isolation on PS3 and PS4, we asked Creative Lead Alistair Hope for insight into the team's development process. From design philosophies to the technical possibilities of PS4, Hope reveals a host of insights on the development of Alien: Isolation.

Watch our new video interview, read our Q&A with Alistair, and leave your questions in the comments!

PlayStation.Blog: So far, Isolation's concept seems to be an intimate one, with Amanda Ripley squaring off against a single Alien. What gave you the inspiration to take the "back to basics" approach?

Alistair Hope: From the start we wanted to make a game that took the player back to the roots of the series - back to Ridley...

Your First Look at Fire-fighting Roguelike Flame Over on PS Vita

50°
25w ago - Laughing Jackal Senior Producer Alasdair Evans shared a first look at fire-fighting roguelike Flame Over on PS Vita.

To quote: Hi everyone. I'm Al, Producer at Laughing Jackal and project lead on our latest game, Flame Over for PlayStation Vita.

We initially revealed we were working on Flame Over back in August 2013 but after that, all communication ceased (for which I offer my apologies.) Needless to say, tons of stuff has happened since then, so here's a reminder of what you can expect when the game is released later this year!

Flame Over is a fire-fighting action roguelike, featuring randomly generated levels, twin stick controls, fast-paced gameplay, permadeath and dynamic fire that burns, spreads and threatens the player (and other NPCs) in some cool ways.

Your objective in Flame Over is simple. Just guide your heroic fire fighter, Blaze Carruthers, up through the floors of the Infernal Industries building in London, extinguishing all fires and rescuing all the stranded workers and - naturally - their pet cats as you go.

As you guide Blaze through this mazelike building on your quest to put out the deadly inferno and save the day, you'll move through four different zones, each with their own unique features and hazards.

On top of its original...

PS4 Case Mods: NES Themed PlayStation 4 Introduces Retro Look

400°
42w ago - Below is a picture of a fan-made PS4 case modification that introduces an NES themed retro look on the PlayStation 4 video gaming system.

We will add more PS4 mods to this article as they surface, and to quote:

While we don’t have much choice when it comes to official colors for PlayStation 4, we can customize it to our heart’s content. One user made this NES themed PS4 and it is definitely worth a look for sure.

This custom painted PS4 is themed after Nintendo’s classic NES. The colors work quite well and make for a beautiful looking PS4 system, that would be a dream come true for every retro console lover. The only thing that will make this even better is NES themed DualShock 4 controllers to go with the console.

So what do you think of this NES themed PS4? Do you like this look for PS4? Let us know in the comments below.

Tiny Brains on PS4 11/26: A Look at DualShock 4 on PlayStation 4

50°
45w ago - Co-founder of Spearhead Games Malik Boukhira announced today that Tiny Brains hits PS4 on 11/26 alongside a look at the DualShock 4 controller on PlayStation 4 below.

To quote: My friend Simon Darveau and I quit our jobs at AAA gaming studios in favor of a smaller, more experimental and creative independent game development. We wanted to create a new kind of game experience, and what better way to do so than to ride the wave of the new generation of consoles?

So with the help of PlayStation's push for indies, we found our experiment in cooperation, Tiny Brains, coming to life on the shockingly high-res screens of the brand-new PS4 on November 26th!

For some background, Tiny Brains is an upcoming action puzzle game that follows the adventures of four tiny (but super-powered!) lab animals that have been experimented on by a mad scientist. Each "tiny brain" has a unique physics-based ability and players must work together to combine their powers and escape the trick-ridden science experiment.

We made this game to truly be about co-op - unlike some co-op games where the stronger players can complete the objectives while their less-experienced friends hang back and bumble about, in Tiny Brains, all the animals' powers must work in tandem in order to progress. You and your fellow...
