28w ago - Sony PlayStation Digital Platforms Community Manager Morgan Haro announced today that PlayStation and Extra Life have teamed up for Children's Hospitals.

To quote: PlayStation believes in the power of our gaming community to do good in the world.

That's why we've teamed up with the video game based charity Extra Life to generate a call to arms to the PlayStation community to help raise money for children's hospitals across the country.

Extra Life is a gaming event benefiting Children's Miracle Network Hospitals, a nonprofit organization that raises funds for children's hospitals and the medical treatment, programs and charitable care that is provided to kids in their communities.

For years, Extra Life has motivated gamers across the U.S. and Canada to drive donations to their local member children's hospital, and this year, PlayStation is joining their efforts.

31w ago - Sony European Product Manager Ross Alexander shared a new video today which spotlights the bringing of Beyond: Two Souls on PlayStation 3 to life.

To quote: Today we're happy to unveil the final part of our BEYOND: Two Souls 'Making Of' series, focusing on the lengthy process of progressing from the first draft of a script to a finished AAA video game.

The team at Quantic Dream explain how they started with the game script and then drafted concept art to set the scene for the game's many different environments and locations.

Then the real hard work began, with full photo scanning for the actors, the performance capture shoot itself, and then translating the data from the shoot into the dynamic scenes that you will see in the final game.

These are the hugely talented people who bring writer/director David Cage's ambitious vision to life.

44w ago - Ragtag Studio Co-Founder Chris Cobb is posted up a video today announcing that Ray's the Dead is brought to life on PlayStation 4!

Below are the details, to quote: This is Chris from Ragtag Studio, a small indie game developer out of Chicago.

We are giving life to a new game called Ray's the Dead! Ray's the Dead is an action adventure game where you are the leader of a zombie army. We are excited to announce that Ray's the Dead will be available as a downloadable title on PlayStation 4!

Ray's the Dead stars Raymond La Morte, a newly resurrected zombie on a quest to find out how he was killed, who killed him, and most curiously, why is there a strange light bulb sticking out of his head?

In this '80s-inspired romp, you'll get to experience the two unique stories of Ray intertwined by fate. As you terrorize American suburbia with your zombie army, you'll also uncover playable memories from Ray's life. You'll be able to experience the events that led to his untimely demise first hand!

Sounds cool, but how does it play? A bolt of lightning activates the bulb lodged into Ray's brain, giving him the power to convert and command the recently deceased into zombie minions! One by one...

46w ago - Sony Blog Manager Fred Dutton shared a video today spotlighting Ashley Johnson bringing Ellie to Life in The Last of Us alongside news that the demo is officially available in God of War: Ascension below.

To quote: As you'll find out in just two weeks' time, Naughty Dog's rabidly-anticipated new survival adventure The Last of Us does a phenomenal job of making you really care about its two protagonists, Joel and Ellie.

Partly through Neil Druckman's nuanced writing, partly through the tactile, reactive gameplay, and partly through the pitch-perfect performances of the voiceover cast, The Last of Us packs an almighty emotional wallop to go with its blockbuster action set-pieces.

It's bar-setting stuff from the Uncharted studio, and these are characters that will resonate with you long after the game's epic conclusion.

To find out a little more about how Naughty Dog pulled it off, we sat down for a quick chat with Ashley Johnson, the young actress bringing world-weary teen Ellie to life.

PlayStation.Blog: How did you first get involved with the project?

Ashley Johnson: My voice-over agent sent me the audition and asked if I'd be interested in doing a video game. She warned me that it was motion capture and that whole...

Super Icon Ltd Unveils Life of Pixel Update: You Talked, We Listened

50°
60w ago - Super Icon Ltd Creative Director Richard Hill-Whittall has officially unveiled their Life of Pixel update today proclaiming: You Talked, We Listened!

Below are the details, to quote: Although I have been developing games for a lot of years, our PS Mobile-exclusive title Life of Pixel was the first time I have had the opportunity to do a big update to one of the games I have worked on after release.

It has been fantastic to get the opportunity to revisit the game to fix a few issues that were present in the initial release, and to listen to feedback from those who downloaded Pixel v1.

Twitter has been invaluable to keep in touch with those players and discuss issues and ideas for the update. In fact, I had such a great time working on the update I ended up adding in a lot more stuff than I originally planned!

Life of Pixel is an old-fashioned platform game with plenty of modern twists and puzzle elements. The star of the game is Pixel, a little green pixel who is tired of being part of the crowd. Luckily, he happens to live right next door to a videogame museum, so under the cover of darkness he sneaks in to take a look...

Players were not happy with the audio experience in the original game, so we now have a unique...
