Daylight PS4: The Power of the Unknown Hits PlayStation 4 in 2014

50°
63w ago - Sony Social Media Specialist Ryan Clements announced today that Daylight on PS4 dubbed The Power of the Unknown is slated to hit PlayStation 4 in 2014.

To quote: In an age of horror games with carefully crafted scares and achingly detailed environments, Zombie Studios is trying something new with its upcoming horror game, Daylight.

Players awake inside an abandoned hospital, with only the light of their cellphone to guide them through the thick black. But unlike other horror games, Daylight changes every time you play.

To better understand Daylight, and the scares within, we asked Zombie Studios Creative Director Andre Maguire to explain how the game came together and why procedurally generated scares give the horror genre a shot in the arm. Maguire also tells us about developing on PS4, and what inspirations fueled the team members in their creative process.

Daylight is tentatively scheduled to launch in early 2014.

PlayStation.Blog: What inspired the team at Zombie Studios to develop a hardcore horror title like Daylight, especially following successful first-person shooters such as Blacklight?

Andre Maguire: We love the horror genre, and we wanted to try and create a game that would be scary every time you played it. We knew that...

Sony Details Grand Theft Auto V for PlayStation 3: What We Know

400°
77w ago - Sony Social Media Manager Sid Shuman shared some new details on Grand Theft Auto V for PlayStation 3 today, as follows:

Los Santos is the biggest Grand Theft Auto city yet... and even that is an understatement. Spanning the city of Los Santos and the wide-open countryside of Blaine County, GTA V is larger than Grand Theft Auto IV, Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas and the frontier world of Red Dead Redemption combined. What's more, it will all be fully open for you to explore from the very start of the game.

Three is the magic number

For the first time in a Grand Theft Auto game, you're not just playing as one character, but three - each with their own individual personalities and lives to live. You'll get to play missions as one character, combinations of two, and sometimes all three.

When you're not out on a mission, you can switch between these three leads in real time using the character wheel. While you're controlling one character, the other two will carry on with their daily lives, so you'll never know what you'll find the other characters getting up to when you jump between them.

Michael is an ex-bank robber, living a comfortable life under the witness protection programme thanks to a deal he made with the FIB (the game's version of...

89w ago - Sony Lead Producer Garth DeAngelis revealed that XCOM: Enemy Unknown officially invades PS3 on PSN today!

Below are the details, to quote: [Register or Login to view links] and the development team at [Register or Login to view links] Games are excited to announce the release of XCOM: Enemy Unknown for PlayStation 3 on PlayStation Network in North America and Brazil on Tuesday, April 9th!

We hope the PlayStation community is ready to save Earth in a way they may have never experienced before.

As a lifelong PlayStation gamer, and a huge fan of PlayStation-bred squad-based tactical games like Final Fantasy Tactics, Valkyria Chronicles, Disgaea, and Vandal Hearts, I'm proud to have something fresh and so easily accessible within Sony's amazing game catalog.

If you missed XCOM: Enemy Unknown's launch in October, this is a heck of an opportunity to see what the fuss has been about.

We're humbled by the 18 Overall Game of the Year wins we've been awarded, but even cooler to us as game creators are the individual stories we hear from gamers regarding their play experience.

In XCOM: Enemy Unknown, you'll defend the world against a global alien onslaught, making epic decisions via your secret underground base, and then deploy your squads...

Insomniac Games Lights the Fuse, Formerly Known as Overstrike

50°
118w ago - Insomniac Games Creative Director Brian Allgeier has announced today that they are lighting the Fuse, a title that was formerly known as Overstrike.

Below are the details, to quote: Hi everyone! After a long journey navigating the sometimes-challenging waters of new IP development, we're proud to reveal Fuse.

Fuse, formerly known as Overstrike, is a third person, four-player cooperative game that centers around a volatile energy source that has fallen into the wrong hands.

The substance, called Fuse, has been acquired by a terrorist organization known as Raven and Overstrike 9 has been hired to track down and stop it from setting off a deadly arms race.

You can play with up to three of your friends, and each member of Overstrike 9 has its own signature Fuse-powered weapon. Play as Dalton Brooks, an ex-mercenary who has a Mag-shield that acts as portable cover and unleashes a devastating blast that liquefies opponents.

Take on the role of Naya Deveraux, who can cloak to flank enemies and fire out mini-black holes that implode its victims. As Jacob Kimble, you can keep enemies at a distance with the Arc Shot and shoot out charged bolts that chain react and fry enemies.

Then there's Izzy Sinclair, who can either launch out med beacons to heal teammates...

Gravity Rush for PlayStation Vita: Everything You Need to Know

50°
170w ago - Today Associate Product Marketing Manager of Software Marketing Cristian Cardona has outlined everything fans need to know about the upcoming PlayStation Vita title Gravity Rush below!

To quote: Greetings! As you've seen lately, we've released some additional information here and there on Gravity Rush and I wanted to give you all a bit more info on this PS Vita exclusive.

First off, if you haven't already, meet Kat:

You'll be assuming the role of our cel-shaded heroine, who wakes in a strange city with no memory of how she got there. While exploring the town, she encounters a black cat (clever, huh?), who grants her the ability to control the gravity around her.

From there, the story unfolds across multiple chapters as Kat uses her newfound powers to not only help a city that's (literally) breaking apart, but to figure out the mystery of her past and what (or who) has brought her here. Using the PS Vita, you'll be able to release Kat from gravity's hold and shift her center of gravity to completely change her perspective and gain access to previously unseen areas of the stages you play in.

Whether "falling" towards the side of a tower or virtually any visible surface, Kat can be brought back to a floating state with a simple trigger pull, or...
