Killzone Shadow Fall: Ultra High Bitrate PS4 Multiplayer Footage

250°
24w ago - Guerrilla Technical Director Michiel van der Leeuw shared some Killzone Shadow Fall ultra high bitrate PS4 multiplayer video footage today!

To quote: Killzone Shadow Fall has been built from the ground up for PS4, and the response to the gameplay footage so far has been overwhelmingly positive.

Unfortunately, there are limitations to streamed video on the internet, and many of the clips and trailers we've released thus far aren't being viewed in the best possible fidelity and framerate.

In order to properly demonstrate the framerate and resolution we achieve in Shadow Fall's multiplayer, we've captured and lightly compressed new footage that we're not offering through a video sharing service. Instead, we ask that you download and locally view the high-resolution, uncompressed footage directly from from us.

Important note: Please use a video player with hardware acceleration when viewing the footage. We recommend Windows Media Player for Windows users and QuickTime Player for Mac users.

Do not use a non-accelerated player (such as VLC Media Player) because the framerate and resolution of this movie are simply too high and will likely cause choppy playback.

Killzone Shadow Fall: Campaign Hands-on, PS4 Multiplayer Footage

50°
24w ago - Sony Social Media Manager Sid Shuman announced details and a fresh trailer today for the Killzone Shadow Fall PS4 Multiplayer campaign!

To quote: Official Killzone Shadow Fall Game Page

It's been 30-odd years since the events of Killzone 3, and my, how things have changed. The fearsome Helghast are now refugees, their homeworld annihilated in a nuclear firestorm. In a desperate bid for survival, the surviving Helghast emigrate to an idyllic planet controlled by their mortal enemies, the ISA.

Unrest simmers, leading to the construction of a vast security wall intended to separate the Vektan haves from the Helghast have-nots. A long, fragile peace is shattered following a terrorist strike (seen in Killzone Shadow Fall's February 20th at PS4's debut conference), prompting the ISA leadership to bring out the big guns. That'd be you, elite Shadow Marshal operative Lucas Kellan. Your mission is simple: Restore order at any cost.

Launch game or no, Killzone Shadow Fall's campaign is a visual stunner on PS4, rendering a smorgasbord of reflections, dynamic lighting, and billowing smoke at a razor-sharp 1080p native resolution (1920 x 1080). It's as if developer Guerrilla Games wanted to cast off every...

Video: Killzone Shadow Fall PS4 Multiplayer Q&A on PlayStation 4

50°
29w ago - Community Editor Victor Zuylen shared a Killzone Shadow Fall PS4 multiplayer Q&A on PlayStation 4 today alongside a video below.

To quote: Yesterday, Killzone Shadow Fall Lead Designer Eric Boltjes held a presentation on the game's multiplayer mode at the 2013 Eurogamer Expo in London. Afterwards he also fielded questions from the audience, going into greater detail about some of Killzone Shadow Fall's features and design choices.

You can watch the whole presentation here:

In addition to the answers Mr. Boltjes provided, we've compiled a list of some of the more frequently asked questions that have appeared online following our announcement of the multiplayer mode. In particular, we received numerous questions about the multiplayer framerate so, let's dive right in:

Will Killzone Shadow Fall multiplayer have a variable frame rate?

No, we're running 60fps. However, the game may drop a few frames in extreme situations - when there are a lot of GPU-intensive things going on at once. Guaranteeing a constant 60fps under such circumstances would've required undesired concessions.

We wanted to make sure Killzone Shadow Fall multiplayer would present a visual spectacle, boasting...

Video: Killzone Mercenary on PS Vita: Week One Multiplayer Stats

50°
31w ago - Guerrilla Cambridge Senior Producer Mark Green posted up a fresh Killzone Mercenary PS Vita video today spotlighting the week one multiplayer stats below.

To quote: A week after Killzone Mercenary's launch, one of the great things to see is how so many different people play the game in so many different ways.

Looking at the stats I can see that the M82 and the silenced STA-52SE are the weapons of choice for a lot of people, each racking up 5M+ kills already, but digging deeper it's great to see that some of the other weapons are being wielded very effectively.

I'd expected my personal favourite - the STA-14 - to be topping the headshot charts, but it's actually being pipped at the post by the up close and personal touch of the silenced STA-18SE.

It seems there are a lot of you out there who really don't want to show up on the radar! No doubt those people have already bought the Infiltrator Armour as well.

If you want to check out some of the stats for yourself then take at looks at Blackjack's on the official Killzone Mercenary site.

If you're already playing, then I hope you like watching what's...

Video: Killzone: Shadow Fall PS4 Multiplayer Hands-on PlayStation 4

200°
34w ago - Sony Social Media Manager Sid Shuman is here with a fresh video demonstrating Killzone: Shadow Fall PS4 Multiplayer hands-on with the PlayStation 4 console below.

To quote: Going hands-on with Killzone: Shadow Fall's multiplayer mode for the first time at Gamescom, I couldn't help but feel that Shadow Fall represents a sea change for the veteran shooter series.

The gameplay retains the series' signature weight and heft, so you never feel like you're ice-skating through the the meticulously detailed environments. But thanks to a host of refinements from Guerrilla Games, Shadow Fall is undeniably a faster, more fluid, and more satisfying Killzone. Call it Killzone reborn.

DualShock 4 plays a significant role here, with its massively upgraded ergonomics and shooter-friendly L2 and R2 triggers (though Shadow Fall will allow you to use the classic L1 and R1 as well, if you prefer).

After my play session, Game Director Steven ter Heide commented that the Shadow Fall no longer uses aim assist, making it a truer test of skill. And you'll never even notice that change, given the high responsiveness of DualShock 4's comfortable new analog sticks.

Of course, the spectacular graphics don't hurt...
