Mortal Kombat PS3 Kicks Off PTOM's List of Biggest 2011 Games

200°
174w ago - PlayStation: The Official Magazine Editor in Chief Gary Steinman has revealed today that Mortal Kombat PS3 kicks off PTOM's list of biggest 2011 video games.

To quote: We knew it would make the cut. How could it not? After all, Mortal Kombat isn't just destined to be one of the biggest fighting franchises of 2011, but it's one of the best we've played in a long time.

It's fast, it's fun, it's brutal, and it harkens back to the series' gory glory days. The move to a 2D plane, the giddy celebration of everything that's great about the Mortal Kombat franchise, the mix of faithful fan-service with future-looking gameplay upgrades: It's exactly what we at PlayStation: The Official Magazine crave in our heavy hitters.

Then we found out Kratos would be in the game, and that's all it took for Mortal Kombat to kick, punch, impale, and maim its way to the tippy top of our Hugest Games of 2011 issue.

Not only did we get a sneak peek at Kratos' in-game model, but we've got the first-ever screenshots of the God of War in action–along with this unbelievably gorgeous cover. On stands Dec. 21, the January issue of PTOM has our hands-on...

198w ago - This weekend Arne announced that Naughty Dog is kicking off an Uncharted 2 PS3 multiplayer double cash holiday weekend!

To quote: "For the next 5 days, the per-match limit on earned cash will be $150,000. That's not a typo–we're running the Double Cash weekend a day longer than typical for a holiday weekend. Make the most of it!

It goes without saying that this is probably a good time to get a leg up on your run to hit level 80. I know I'll be checking into multiplayer to get a jump on gaining levels.

Double Cash Weekend:

Starts: Friday, July 2, 2010 at 10:00 AM PDT
Ends: Wednesday, July 7, 2010 at 10:00 AM PDT"

Square Enix Kicks Faces: No E3 Demo At All

200°
305w ago - Oh, another day and another hour. This time we debunk a rumor. The latest one that just smashed through the window of hopes is the teary eyed rumor that there will be a demo for Final Fantasy XIII to display engine goodies for the highly anticipated RPG that PS3 people are fond of and 360 people are drooling to have.

Well, stop hoping and praying. Not answered in other words. Here's what Square Enix's NA PR has to say:

"We have no plans whatsoever to intro a playable demo or any demo at E3 on the FFXIII project."

Okay okay. Hold back the gushing tears of agony. So there won't be any playable demo this year at E3. Does it really surprise anyone? But one thing is for sure, you can all still keep hoping that some form of FFXIII will show up at E3.
