Video: EveryAir - PS3 Games on iPhone, iPad, iPod iOS Devices!

179w ago - Today the EveryAir blog (linked above) has been updated with news and a video courtesy of pandaelves demonstrating EveryAir running PS3 Games via iPhone, iPad, and iPod iOS devices.

To quote: With a little wrangling of hardware and software, we were able to put together a demo of how to play PS3 games on an iPod, iPhone, and iPad.

The trick is to connect a capture device and a USB mouse/keyboard device to the PS3. The capture device sends video data to the PC, and the USB keyboard/mouse sends the button presses.

On the PC itself, you run a custom build of everyAir which understands custom gestures and pipes the input to the PC which then sends it to the PS3 via the input interpreter. More details are described in the video.

TLDR version: We used some off the shelf hardware and everyAir to allow you to play PS3 games on any iOS device.

Q&A:

Q: What's the overall picture for how this works?

Download: PSFreedom for Apple iPhone and iPod v0.1 / PSFreedom for Apple iPhone 2G and 3G / 2G Precompiled / 3G Precompiled

To quote from PSGroove: A person known as NTAuthority has successfully ported psfreedom to the Iphone here. Currently it does not feature backup manager support, and currently can not be patched in.

However, NTAuthority is investigating this issue and working on a fix. He is referring to this release as a preview (beta) release, so if you are an enduser you may want to hold off until the code is a bit more final.

For those planning on testing it, it will work on the iPhone 2G/3G and iPod touch 1G and needs OpeniBoot installed. Download link and a full quote from the readme below:

Just a small testing release of PSFreedom for iPhoneLinux.
