182w ago - It was bound to happen.. just before the weekend cannonsimp of WePlayCOD beat Infinity Ward in their latest hit- Call Of Duty 4: Modern Warfare 2.

A video of the feat is below via YouTube, and to quote: "Over on the WePlayCOD Forums, a user by the name of Cannonsimp has screenshot evidence of him beating Infinity Ward's best time for the tutorial level 'The Pit'.

Whilst it's not strictly a tutorial, the exact same level is also included in Spec Ops mode. Cannonsimp has managed to complete the level in 00:22.50 (or 22.5 seconds). That's a whole tenth of a second faster than IW's best of 22.6 seconds.

183w ago - Although it's not a big surprise, a recent IGN Review has revealed that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 DLC is already planned by Infinity Ward.

Downloadable content is set to include online map packs alongside missions for the successful Spec Ops.

Additionally, Infinity Ward recently released a small (non-downloadable) update for the console versions containing new gamemodes dubbed 3rd Person Team Tactical, Team Deathmatch Express, and Mosh Pit.

Here are their descriptions, to quote:

"3rd Person Team Tactical
4 vs 4 in the 3rd person perspective with mixed game types such as Domination, TDM, etc.

Team Deathmatch Express
Regular Team Deathmatch with shorter intermissions in between matches

Mosh Pit
A random selection of any game mode. You never know what you're going to play."

186w ago - Yesterday we saw video footage of a third-person view in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 for PS3.

Today Infinity Ward's community manager Robert Bowling (A.K.A. fourzerotwo) has confirmed that a third-person camera viewpoint will be available in this holiday's monolithic Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, though it'll be limited to specifically labeled online playlists.

To quote: "It's not something you can toggle on and off in ANY game," said Bowling. The special mode can only be played in private matches - toggled on or off just like "Hardcore" settings - or in playlists that are designated for third-person play.

According to Bowling, everyone playing in a third-person playlist will be restricted to the viewpoint. "This is just another cool way to play the game," he said, "you obviously will still have the option to play gametypes normal as well."

189w ago - Today NeoGAF user Wario64 has posted a screenshot (below) showing the Uncharted 2 PS3 ending credits screen.

Within it, Naughty Dog thanks several other well-known developers including Bungie and Infinity Ward... cool stuff!
